I am applying for acceptance this fall (2010), to both KSU and GHC. Does anyone know roughly when these schools let you know something? As for GHC, I intend to apply for the Wellstar scholarship, so should I be lucky enough to be accepted, how much longer is the process for acceptance to the Wellstar program?
Thank you.

hey wrobelr...I got accepted to GHC for fall of 2010!! I had applied in december, and just recently got my acceptance notification. Not sure about KSU. I actually attended there for my first 3 years of college and after not being accepted 2 seperate times I decided to go elsewhere. I have several friends that went through their nursing program and KSU and loved it! I'm not sure how long it took to know whether they were accepted or not though! good luck!
Congratulations! I am still waiting to get accepted to the COLLEGE so that I can submit my application to the nursing program! I am very frustrated. I had all my paperwork/transcripts into the college back in October/November and it wasn't until the beginning of this month that I finally got accepted to the college. Now, I can't seem to get them to send me a letter of acceptance (which I need to send in with my nursing application). I already have a bachelors degree and a masters degree so getting an acceptance to the college should not have taken as long as it did. Getting an acceptance letter to me also should not take this long. I get the same reply every time I call: "The nursing application deadline for fall 2010 is not until April 1st, 2010 so you have plenty of time." Which translates into they aren't in a hurry. But apparently, the sooner I get my application in, the sooner I will find out, as you did. I guess I just need to keep bothering them! Again, congratulations to you!
seriously?!?!?! that's borderlining on ubber rediculous!! My friend sent her stuff in Oct./Nov. too and never heard anything either!! that's really strange. And actually...They haven't sent me anything via snail mail. I looked on the website and evidently I have a student # with them (which means i'm in I guess) and a student e-mail as well. I'm not expecting official stuff until after april 1. Which I personally think is insane b/c by that time if they reject...it's not as if you have much time to decide to go somewhere else or respond to another school's acceptance. I was on their tail, I'm sure the lady @ the registrar is pretty close to vomiting anytime she hears my name, lol. well again, good luck, and I hope they get their act together on sending stuff out. They're missin' out on some good people!
So were you accepted to the nursing program at GHC or just to the college? And just so you know, I too had a GHC ID from a very early date, but it did not mean I was accepted. If you check online you can find out your status in terms of being admitted to the college, but in order to submit your application to the nursing program, you must have the official letter of acceptance to submit along with the nursing application.

I was on the phone today asking about the Wellstar scholarship program and basically the school picks who will be granted the scholarship based on where you live and what campus you attend for GHC. Also, they told me that we wouldn't receive acceptence letters until May sometime, they don't start reviewing the application until after April 1st deadline
Late May? Ok. I'm finishing up my exams right now in Organic Chemistry and Microbiology so at this point I am ready to just take a break from everything and not think about any of this for a while.
However, I am really surprised about what they told you about the Wellstar scholarship. I had been told that once someone was accepted to the GHC nursing program, if that person was interested in the Marietta campus their application was turned over to Wellstar. Wellstar then looked at the application and interviewed people they were interested in, making a decision on who to give the scholarship to. I was told GHC had nothing to do with who received the Wellstar scholarship. It would be nice if you didn't have to go through another round of "applications" and an interview and it was simply based on your location and preference of campus. I live in Kennesaw and most definitely do not want to travel to Rome. My desire for the Wellstar scholarship has more to do with location than the tuition reimbursement aspect.
I think your on the right track, I'm applying for the Marietta campus because I live in Smyrna and I wouldn't be able to do the commute to Rome. Like you said, and what she told me, you have a good shot at getting the scholarship if you attend the Marietta campus. I just completed everything today, so I'll wait and see how the process goes. I'll keep you posted though
Great, thanks!

The WellStar scholarship is pretty much as wrobeir said. I applied for the scholarship last year, was accepted, but then had some out of state family problems that prevented me from starting nursing school in the fall. Therefore, I am applying again. You basically fill out the application, write a "personal statement", get 2 recommendations (they like one from an instructor/professor), have an interview, and take a "personality type" test. The woman you will work with from WellStar is amazing and extremely helpful!! Last year, there were about 10 extra applicants for the Marietta campus. I too am from Kennesaw and hope to get Marietta for the location - although 75S in the morning can be a nightmare!!
Thank you for your post. Let me see if I understand this correctly, because you mentioned 10 extra applicants for the Marietta campus. Can you attend the Marietta campus for the GHC nursing program and NOT get the scholarship? Or are attending the Marietta campus and getting the scholarship one and the same? In other words, if you didn't get the scholarship, or if you didn't pursue the scholarship, could you just attend the nursing program at the Marietta campus rather than the Rome campus if accepted to the program? If so, who decides which campus you attend? Is it purely based on which campus you checked on your application?
I believe that if you put the Marietta location for campus, you are offered a CHANCE to apply for the scholarship. I do not believe it is mandatory. There are a lot of students who are just interested in the location as opposed to driving to Rome. All the students that I knew (from allnurses) applied for the scholarship. I did not know anyone who was offered the scholarship and turned it down. Although I did know one person that was accepted at Marietta, but was not offered the scholarship. So it probably is possible to be at the Marietta campus and not have the scholarship. I don't know if I helped you with my answer, but feel free to ask anything.
