Acceptance letters from N Georgia (UNG) Fall 2013

U.S.A. Georgia

Has anyone heard when acceptance letters will be mailed out??

If you hear anything, please let everyone know!!

Wow, I'm really lost with all this waiting list thing at UNG. I'm taking my core courses in NGTC and I will be done with all the prereq by spring 2014. I'm trying to apply for the BSN program that will start on Fall 2014. My current GPA is 4.0, and I'm planning to take the TEAS by August. I'm really confused too, because I went to an information session last month and they said they won't be offering the ASN program anymore, just the BSN. They're still waiting for approval, though. But it looks like I probably will need to wait longer than 2014 to start my BSN. Can you give me some advice and guidance, please? I'm planning to transfer to UNG this coming fall to finish my core courses. I'm bilingual and I have my BLS certification already. Do you think that will help me? Thanks in advance!

Hey emde,

What exactly are you asking? If you have completed your science prerequisite by fall 2014 I don't see any reason on why you should not apply to the BSN program. You have a good GPA and should do well on the TEAS.

I have heard that they are phasing out the ASN program so I imagine that the requirements for the BSN program will be different.

I'm not sure if the bilingual will help when it comes to school. I'm sure when it comes to getting a job it is a plus. We have to be BLS certified before entering the program so that's a good thing you have it already.

I'm not sure if I answered all of your questions tho. So if I didn't, please tell me exactly what it is you are looking for and Ill try my best to answer your question if I know it. I'm sure others on this thread may have the answers as well.

I just don't understand why some of you have applied, even twice, and are still waiting to be accepted. I just don't want to be waiting for a long time just to get into the program. Your post is really helpful. Thanks a lot!!

Well for me this programs is a good fit. I have a family and I work overnight full time. Bc I have completed everything except the nursing courses I will only have class two days a week and lab/clinicals on Fri. That gives me time for work and my family. It would be very hard for me to attend a 5 days a week 9 hrs a day program. That is why I have applied twice. All I can do is improve my TEAS scores & GPA. Which I have done and have applied again. However I am a average student not a 4.0 student or a 90 on the TEAS. So I wait...

Ok, I understand you. Thanks!

Not yet. Their deadline for turning in their packets is on April 12th. Then the department will be evaluating how many spots have opened up and send out more letters on or before May 15th.

That's two weeks earlier than last year's deadline (April 26th) So maybe we will hear something before May 15. I believe its a 2 1/2-3 week turn around time. So the wait won't be long girls!!!:nailbiting:

I guess so! :D I can hardly wait to get that letter and sink my heels onto the path of becoming an RN. :) Anyhoo, yesterday's pre-nursing advisement for Fall 2013 was okay. Here are some of the things we've discussed, so far:

-- Incoming ASN students won't be grandfathered into the new traditional/generic BSN program

-- Chemistry will become mandatory for the new BSN program (we used to be allowed to choose between that, Biology 1107 & 1108, and 1010 and 1110, and Physics)

-- NURS 2603 Into Prof Nurs Theory and Concepts will be mandatory for those applicants who wish to apply for the new BSN program in Dec. 15th

-- The ASN minimum GPA and TEAS V requirements will remain for the new BSN program

I informed her that I won't be pursuing another application cycle this time, so the new BSN program curriculum won't be of much use to me, except for the RN-BSN bridge.

If you got into the nursing program this year will you have to take chemistry or will you be grandfathered in the BSN program? Because I took 1107/1108.

Since you took that Biology sequence, you won't have to take Chemistry. Incoming ASN students will not be grandfathered into the new BSN program.
