Has anyone began to get any letters from Bevill State about the 2012 nursing program???

Yea, I've actually tried to get a Sallie Mae's loan but declined a while back when I couldn't get a credible co-signer at that time.

I know right! And you need the money up front by next month and a background check done.

I got my acceptance letter for Bevill State, Sumiton campus. Reading through it reenforced my decision to accept a seat at Wallace State. $300 for 2 sets of scrubs and a lab coat? Give me a break. Are they cashmere or Persian silk scrubs? Nope just the cheap ScrubZone ones you can order online for $9.00 each piece. It makes me wonder if they are willing to gouge students over scrubs what else will they do?

It is true that Bevill State cannot offer Stafford loans. Several years ago they lost that privilege due to an excessive number of their students defaulting on their loans. The Federal gov't told them they had to give up either the Stafford loans or the Pell Grant.

I also have a friend in Bevill's program who qualifies for WIA. It is only for those who are unemployed(lost their jobs) I believe.

I applied to both Lawson and Bevill..at first i got a rejection letter from Bevill :crying2: due to a error on their behalf. They had not loaded all of my transcripts so it appeared i was lacking my math courses..imagine that:confused:. After a couple of phone calls and their staff getting all my things together i moved from their waiting list to being accepted into the actual program! Sooo excited!:lol2: Lawson was def not my school of choice but i was willing to take that if it was all I had. So good luck to you all and even if your letter says no...follow up and make sure its legitimate! Oh my campus is the sumiton campus and im driving from Bham.

anyone know where we get a background check from and the specifics of whats allowable on there if anything?

No nothing as of yet.... so I have prepared myself for whatever comes. i dont know why my letter is taking so long.

The same thing happened to my friend and she has a degree from Ole Miss and they did not even placed that into her student info. She is now waiting on a call from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF ANYONE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) to see if she will be accepted because of their mistakes.
