Long time reader on here, just never registered. Anyone applying for the program in the spring? Just got everything in today with my referances.
Hello!
I'm really late considering this thread was started forever ago, but I have some questions! Do you guys like the program? How's it going? I plan to apply for fall 2010!
Judging by your threads, the application process is rather stressful! I'm entering that phase as we speak! Any advice?
I just got in for the summer so I start in less than a month. Advise for you is to knock out as many of the courses you can complete prior to the program. It will lessen your courseload considerably and also help out alot in your application. I know they changed some things in there application like a timed essay.
Thanks for replying, jmlowe85!
Yes, they definitely did change some things because I looked at the application for last spring and it was completely different! I have bad luck...things usually get harder when it's my turn to try! Did you have 3 short answers on your application? Like list any volunteer and health related experience? (I forgot what the last one was)...So you didn't have to do an essay at all?
I'm very nervous about doing a timed essay. It usually takes me forever to think up something to write. I'm not going to do very well depending on exactly how long we get...I'm worried!
Thanks for your help!
Admissions on done a point scale. Basically the point system consists of your gpa + your prerequisite gpa as your base score (so basically 8 is the total points for this part). They add 2 points if you have your prerequisites completed by the application deadline. The format is different this time as the essay, recommendation, and experience format is changing. KSU has not arrived at a conclusion for how much weight they will be given. Generally though they account for about 5 points so GPA is still the most important.
I was able to see the application because I started it, but didn't have time to finish. I saved it and exited out. I haven't completed it yet so I haven't gotten past the page they ask for written responses. As far as the essay, I read online that there's a timed essay on June something...It's online, but you have to be at a computer when your time comes...(atleast that's how I understood it). I'm hoping that the essay isnt' too bad. I'm great at essays, but not impromptu...
Cancer,
The area is fine if your moving near the university. Kent can be expensive for rent I would look in surrounding areas for a better bang for the buck. The program is trying and can be stressful at times. If you have taken all the courses you can take in advance your experience will be much less stressful. Some people work others don't just depends on your situation. I don't work and find the program to be enough on it's own. Let me know if you have more questions.

I'm not sure. From what I've heard they have alternates that aren't notified until all the seats are filled. I think everyone else gets an email fairly quickly. Not sure though.
