has anyone gotten into the accelerated program at villanova? i am looking into the program, but i'm not sure how competitive it is. i guess i'm just kind of curious about other peoples' stats...where did you take your classes...community college or 4 year institution...gpa....undergraduate degree..etc.
does anyone know exactly what they look for?
thanks in advance!

I am just as curious!!! I just sent my transcripts and plan on starting my application this week to enter the BSNExpress hopefully for 2008! Applications are really stressing me out, I just want everything to be perfect! I still have some prereqs to finish up and take the GREs and my GPA isn't great, but not too too bad (I hope).
Any insight on the program, any advice for applying, anything would help!!!
hey deeks0, how is everything going with your application to villanova? i just started taking some prerequistes for nursing school, so i won't be applying until the 2009 starting class. i'm going to email the nursing department at villanova and see if they will give me any information on what exactly they are looking for in a candidate, gpa, etc. i'll let you know if they tell me anything. i kind of wish the schools would let us know some of this info(i couldn't find it on their website), just so i know if i'm the ballpark of someone they would want.
have a nice weekend
Applying is going okay? I just wish I would have had this all out of the way before I started the fall semester...I am bombarded with school work and any free time I have I spend on applications. I am slowly getting it all done. Villanova's program sounds great! And I'm so excited to start (if i get accepted), but i have hit every single roadblock with applying and with trying to set up online prereqs! So I am getting very overwhelmed, plus I have all my school work which for now is only two prereqs, Chemistry and Lab- the hardest!! Next semester I have only free electives left so I will finish up the rest. All i need is Microbiology, Nutrition, Pathophysiology and one more religion for Villanova. Then the other schools I'm applying to have some different prereqs so I have to strategize what prereqs are most important and what I could fit in over the summer...So much to think about! What other school will you look at?
hey deeks0, thanks for the reply. i don't know where else i'm also going to apply. i just starting taking the prerequistes this semester, so it will be awhile until i'm done. i currently live in the lehigh valley and was hoping to get into an accelerated program closer to philly since there is more to do down there. i know of villanova, drexel, and u penn. but i don't think i would get into u penn, and it is super expensive. i wish there was more information listed on the school's webpage about what criteria they look at for admissions. anyway, let me know what happens at villanova. have you spoken with anyone there about the program?

Just got my acceptance letter today!! Applied for the BSNExpress and it looks like its starting on May 19th 2008! I think I'm in shock right now. I've been so wrapped up in pre-requisites and finals that it didn't really occur to me how I'd feel. Has anyone else heard back? I'd love to connect with any prospective students. I am looking at the day time option.

Hey just got my acceptance letter to the BSNExpress program yesterday as well!! I am also looking into the day sequence and seem to be in your same position Ms. JuJu. I am soo elated I think they only accept like 80 people. I'm not sure how the numbers are split from day to evening sections, but when I spoke to an admissions counselor there she mentioned the day was much more competitive so CONGRATS I know how you feel!!:)

Hey, everyone -- I just found this thread, and thought I'd respond.
I graduate from the BSNExpress at Villanova in THREE MONTHS!!!
The program is really great, but it is fast and you are going to feel like you're not learning everything you should be. DON'T FREAK OUT! Just take a deep breath, and remember that even when you only have, like, 30 hours of clinical in a semester you're going to have HUNDREDS of hours once you find a job and get settled into an orientation (this is something my classmates freak out over all the time - and I always tell them "don't do it!").
Really try to read your textbooks in advance of lecture - you'll be golden on exams if you do this. And study in groups, when you can. You'll get a lot more out of it.
DON'T BUY an expensive PDA! My whole class bought super-expensive PDAs and we never use them. Buy a cheap one, just in case you find you're really not into it. (The PDA is for drug programs you might use in clinical. I NEVER use it - I prefer the Davis Drug Guide instead. Just a personal preference.). You're paying for the Pepid program in your tuition, though.
The uniforms are horrible. You'll wear it and find yourself randomly asking people, "Do you want fries with that?" (You'll see what I mean.....)
Join SNAP and NSNA! You'll get a lot out of your Villanova experience if you do. The underclassmen that are coming up and running the Student Nurses Association of PA are awesome! They have great ideas, and they really respect second degree students' opinions. The conferences they attend are terrific for networking, or getting into nursing advocacy (which is what I do).
Last, but not least, HAVE FUN! Don't freak out over grades or schoolwork - try to maintain some semblance of a life. You'll have a better time of it if you heed this advice, trust me!
If I can answer any more questions, please let me know! I have loved my time as a BSNExpress student at VU....I hope all of you do, too! :nuke:

I thought my interview at Villanova went very well. She said I would hear by mid-December. I felt good afterwards, but now I am starting to doubt because other people have already started hearing....how long did it take them to get back to you?
I applied last year: had my interview in November and before Christmas break I received my acceptance letter. Shouldn't be too much longer now!! I'm currently in the 2nd term of the BSN Express. It's VERY CHALLENGING and I have NO TIME to myself. But Winter Break means we'll be HALF WAY DONE!! Good luck to you and keep in touch.

Hi 2BarmyRN, I am also interested in the Villanova Nursing program as well. I'm interested in the longer accelerated BSN option (2yr). I am glad that you had a positive experience. I'm thinking about calling admissions to schedule an appointment. Do you know, what they are looking for in terms of applicants? I have a MSW and BA in psychology with 5+ years of experience in the social sciences/medical field.
