Accelerated BSN Rutgers Stratford campus Fall 2014

Published

Hey everyone, I just got my acceptance for the Rutgers accelerated bsn program for Fall 2014 at the Stratford campus! I figured I should start a thread to share questions and information! Has anyone else on this website been accepted to this program and campus? Does anyone know any details about the program itself, such as; difficulty/intensity, # of people, days/times for classes/clinicals, etc? I don't know anyone personally who has been through this program, so I have a lot of questions!

difficulty/intensity-> Very intense. All accelerated programs will be time consuming and intense as you squeeze 3.5 years of nursing into four semesters,

# of people-> at a meeting the made it seem like they take 50 people in. not sure how many commit.

days/times for classes/clinicals -> classes are PROBABLY during the week, but clinicals can be weekdays or weekends. 1 clinical first semster, 2 second, 3 third, 2 fourth. graduate. best of luck.

Thanks so much for your reply, it was helpful!

Hi! Congrats on your acceptance! I also have been accepted to the Stratford campus and am so excited!! I wish I could answer some of your questions, but haven't had much luck with getting any answers from the school about anything. I do know someone who went through the program a few years back when it was formerly called UMDNJ, and she says it is a lot of hard work and very intense, but it is doable if you put the time and effort in. Other then that, I don't know much else about the program. I've been calling the school over and over, but can't seem to get answers from anyone over there. Did you receive any information from the school after accepting your offer? Anything about information sessions, orientation, TEAS testing, or anything at all?

Hey congrats to you too! I just spoke with the director of academic advising because I had a few questions regarding the 'recommended courses' to take prior to the program. During the conversation, I found out that the Stratford campus is gone, the program will now be in Camden, though she wasn't quite sure where yet. She said probably the Victor building because they are currently in the process of building a new one which won't be done for some time. Also, she said orientation will be May 17th and we should get an email about this. And we should be receiving an information packet in the mail soon.

Ohh wow...I had no idea the program is now at Camden. I obviously knew we had to apply to Camden's nursing program, but thought the program would still be held in Stratford. But thank you so much! All of your information really helps!!

Yea i know, stratford would've been so much more convenient than driving into camden. Let me know if you get anymore info!

hey congrats-- I got in as well! I am also having trouble figuring out what to do next... do you think our courses are pre-planned/registered for? I had to call admissions to make sure I got into the right program! The woman I spoke with said a packet will come in the mail and have more info--- the packet came, not really any helpful info!

Congrats on getting in! I received the packet too, but like you said, no helpful info! I'm not sure about the course registration, but I guess we'll have those questions answered at the orientation. The woman I spoke to said it should be on May 17th, but I haven't received anything official regarding that yet. Let me know if you hear anything!

I also got in and received the packet in the mail yesterday. I agree there wasn't much information specifically for the absn program. I hope we get more info about the orientation soon. Also does anybody have any recommendations about housing around Camden? I live about over an hour away so I'm not too familiar with the area. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hey I just received the email regarding orientation on May 17th, I'm excited to meet my future classmates!

Yes the program has been moved to

Camden! I am about to complete this program in 10days!! I started at UMDNJ last May, on Stratford campus, and will finish as an RU-BSN!

A few things:

1-it's completely disorganized! Worst school/program I've ever attended! Was way better as UMDNJ at Stratford!

2-the campus is NOT equipped for nursing students! Unlike Stratford, with their labs, Camden has ABSN students in a law building. No resources for nursing specific tutoring like before. Teachers are NOT located on campus, their offices remain in Stratford.

3-the merger has been very political & although it was in the works for years, it only became official as of June 1,2014. Thus, many many many things are in limbo & the lack of communication from administration to students is awful! So bad that our graduating class was going to have their pinning ceremony completely canceled & no mention was made of this until students inquired! They also were going to switch our degrees from BSN to a BS with a diploma in nursing (not the same credentials) & again students discovered this themselves. Luckily, they are granting us the BSN!

4-many of the UMDNJ programs amazing professors have been let go because RU had their own! Sadly they don't measure up!

I wish you all the best of luck! Just know that it's an intense program! You will need to advocate for yourself or administration will screw you over! Be prepared to feel like your in over your head, have friends/family tell you they never see you, cry & have panic attacks! Once you get yourself acclimated to the program , this will all ease up.
