Accelerated BSN Or Transfer Into Nursing As A Junior?

Published

Hi all. I am currently a sophomore at community college. My goal has been to become a nurse. However, I have been majoring/following the Biology pathway, because my counselor said that I could not declare the nursing major at my school. It was either that or undeclared. I would like to transfer into a nursing program for Fall 2017 and I will have taken all of the prerequisites for the nursing programs that I am looking at. I currently have a 3.2 GPA, which I think might be low compared to others wanting to be a nurse? I know that nursing schools can have competitive admissions. Therefore, I was wondering if I would have more of a chance at getting in if I just went on to get my BA in biology and apply to an accelerated nursing program after?

P.S. I have all the prerequisites to transfer to a nursing program or biology program for Fall 2017. I would like to stay in California and preferably attend a CSU nursing program as I am a California resident.

Thank you. :)

Your GPA is probably too low for a CSU nursing program at this point. But it's also too low for an ABSN program as well. Is there any way you can bring it up before either transferring to a CSU or applying for ABSN?
