Hi everyone!
I just graduated this past May with a BS in Exercise Science and applied to two different schools for the accelerated program in nursing. I applied to both University at Buffalo (where I graduated) and Stony Brook University. I have been put on the wait list for University at Buffalo and have heard nothing from Stony Brook.
To give you a little background about myself, I graduated with a 3.4 GPA and have a great science background. I have taken courses such as Neuroscience, Neuroanatomy, Gross Anatomy, Biomechanics, Lifespan Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Anatomy and Physio, etc., including all of the prerequisites needed. On top of this, I was a Resident Adviser in a dorm as well as a teaching assistant for Anatomy. I have volunteer background in many Physical Therapy clinics (this was my first choice of career until I decided it was not for me) including children with disabilities, hospital settings, sports care, and pilates based PT rehab. I have interned with a holistic nutritionist and worked with a chiropractor. I also recently shadowed a few nurses in a local hospital. I am currently a Home Health Aide and I am considering taking a basic EMT course. Although my GPA is not top of the class, I figured that my outside experience and essay would help me out. So now I am in a waiting game and crossing my fingers. If I do not end up getting in this year, I am okay with it, I just want to make sure I have the best possible plan set up to really work to my potential and prove I have what it takes to get into the program. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance!
Sincerely,
Alannah

Why not try for a Masters Entry Program? You have an amazing background in the sciences.
Hi Stephen,
I was considering that too, but I'm wondering if it is just as competitive or more than the BS and my biggest concern with that is the financial piece. I'm so confused! Thank you for your input!
