Can anyone direct to any updated information that deals with the nurse-patient ratios in the state of NY. California is the only one that has a maximum of 5 patients per nurse per shift. THe most majority only have 4 and you are open for an admission, which does not usually happen. I can't believe that the state of NY does not have this ratio.
What is the Board of Nursing and the unions doiing to solve this problem, I hear stories that RNs in NYC have 10-12 patients per shift. How can you deal with that? How could keep yourself mistake-free when u administer medications, and care effectively for your patients.
thanks a lot for any replies to this concern.
I will be moving from SF to NYC this summer as a new grad, and Im terrified!
