ABSN Exchange Student (Travel) Programs

Published

Does any one know of any ABSN programs that offer exchange student travel opportunities?

I returned from Europe recently. It would be lovely to have an opportunity to live there. Would Nursing not be the right choice of career if one wants to travel and see the world?

I would also love to hear stories from world traveling nurses. I know there are traveling nurses that travel within the US. How about the world?

An accelerated BSN program is not going to provide the time to do a proper study abroad like a four year college degree does. That being said, if your aBSN is like mine was, it is two years with summer off. If you planned ahead, you could do a summer program with one of the other colleges in your university, or even with another university if your school doesn't do that.

I've heard on the travel nurse forums of nurses going to Australia, the UK, and the Middle East, but going to other countries is a lot more challenging than travel nursing within the US, as they have different education and certification requirements.

I wanted to live abroad but my husband wasn't into that, so we compromised on travel nursing (within the US). I know it's not the same, but I can tell you it helps with wanderlust.
