ABSN Duke Fall 2010

Published

Hi All!

I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??:yeah:

Congrats everyone! I too was accepted but at this point it looks like I will probably choose one of the other schools I applied to... I still have 3 weeks to decide ahhh! SO, it's looking better and better for those waitlisted people! Don't give up yet!!!

Thanks for all of the positive comments about the waitlist. I feel much better than I did earlier this afternoon. I think the most frustrating thing is the uncertainity. Honestly, I couldn't be happier for those of you who were accepted and hopefully the rest of us will be joining you!

Okay- So who are we still missing? I don't think we've heard from Tazluff or Rubypie...

Hey. I'm here. I just started a new position at work which has been keeping me busy.

Unfortunately, I didn't get accepted. :( I think I am the only one in this forum that didn't get accepted or waitlisted. I called to find out why and based on the notes that she had, apparently I didn't dazzle them with "Why Nursing" and "a fit for their program". I am still a little confused about that one. I am bummed but at the same time, I started a new position a few weeks ago so based on that, I wouldn't have been able to start in August anyways.

She is going to transfer all of my stuff for the January admission. I'll have to interview again but we'll see how that goes.

I have a Bachelors in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Masters in Computer Networking, both with high GPAs, all of my prereqs were A's, my personal statement was good, and I I did well in the interviews. From my perspective, what are they looking for?!?!?!

Therefore, Congratulations to everybody that has gotten accepted and waitlisted. Those that are waitlisted, I think y'all are a "shoe-in" anyways so don't sweat it.

I think it was the fact that I went to NC State and a big Wolfpack fan - they didn't want me wearing my red and white on their blue and white campus everyday!!!! :D

Everybody better do good so when y'all graduate and I have to be treated at the hospital, y'all better know what y'all are doing! I think everybody will do great!!! Again, congrats to everybody and good luck in August.

Tazluff, I'm sorry you weren't accepted. I wish you luck for next time.

I think, perhaps, you're right about being the big Wolfpack fan. We did beat them right before interviews started...hard for the Duke ego, I'm sure. :lol2: Actually, that basketball game did come up during my interview and I had to suppress my urge to gloat.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

How exciting! Some of you may remember me from this thread a few weeks ago. I was scheduled to interview with Duke for Fall 2010 but got accepted at UNC's ABSN program in January and decided to head to Carolina.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and waitlisted (I was waitlisted at UNC and got in 3 weeks before classes started!) So now I'm into week 6 of the program and all I have to say is you better hold on to your hats! No time to warm up or get your feet wet-it's deep end all the way. However, I absolutely love it. Time management is key and do not get behind on anything-you'll be juggling many balls at once but keep up and you'll be fine.

Best of luck to everyone!

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, and good luck to those who were waitlisted. I'll see you in the fall!

We didn't hear from Priston yet either right?

Also, ya know that apartment list that was mentioned at the Duke Day? Do you think that will be emailed to us eventually, or is that something we have to ask for?

Priston posted something about an email mentioning pre-req deadlines, so I took that to mean accepted...

I phone interviewed and havent heard about an apartment list. Would you mind filling me in? Thanks! :)

They mentioned something about how they have a list of places where students are either currently living or have recently lived, and they keep updating it, so if they get a lot of complaints about a certain place they'll remove it from the list. I think they also said that they are all places in a relatively safe neighborhood; none would be in a bad area.

kspills10---> Yes i am in. The most difficult part for me now is to decide between JHU and DUKE. Both are really very good, so i am not able to decide which one to accept.

Thanks

Priston- Have you visited both programs? Are you going to the accepted students day at Hopkins next month?

Ohh I must've missed it when I was trying to catch up on all the missed posts. Good luck with your decision!
