ABSN Duke Fall 2010

Hi All!

I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??:yeah:

Yes Twois, here are the steps...

1) Accept or decline online.

2) Follow a link to initiate and pay for a criminal background check.

3) Put the check in the mail!!

So... it sounds like we probably won't hear anything until after the long weekend. Oh, well.

I wonder if anyone that I interviewed with is on the admissions committee! Do you think they use our photos from Duke Days in their committee meeting? I wasn't sure what the purpose of those photos was. The only thing I can figure is that they use them to jog their memories about who we all were.

I just remembered yesterday that I didn't get my picture taken. Did anyone else on the 29th not get theirs taken, or am I the only one?

I didn't either. Did they forget? Hopefully we made a good enough impression that they can remember us without our pics.

Nope, no photos here either. Which is fine with me... I don't need anyone remembering me by my puffy head-cold face. :D Did they do the photos for interviewees on the 22nd? Now I'm curious. I may have missed any posts about that.

On the 22nd, they took pictures of everyone as we picked up our name tags. Good luck to everyone interviewing this week! You'll do great! :D

Did they secretly take pictures of us on the 29th? That would totally suck since i hate pictures anyways, esp. ones i don't know about - haha!!! :banghead:

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've looked at this thread so sorry if this is a repeat, but does anyone know how we are notified of their decision? i.e. should I be obsessively checking my mail or my email? :bugeyes:

We'll be notified by email that a decision is available via the website we used to apply. :)

Has anyone else noticed that time has actually slowed since the interviews? I swear it's happening here. ;) I keep rounding the time left to wait and it's been "about two weeks" for far too long now... (yet somehow, there's still not enough time in my day today to study for my two exams - some law of physics contradicting itself, obviously!)

Also, does anyone know what (if any) BLS, etc courses or other similar things are required before starting the program?

Hi twois!

Pardon my ingnorance. BLS? All I know is what I found in the 2009 student handbook. It looks like we have to take a series of online tests (10-12) about safety/compliance/infectious disease/etc. before beginning classes.

I'm sure that does nothing to answer your questions.
