Hello!
I am applying (maybe) to an ABSN program in Indiana. I have some questions before I submit my application (literally almost done).
1. Anybody who is also looking at an ABSN/did an ABSN, how did you handle the cost?
2. I have a large amount of student loan debt from my BA and am seriously concerned about taking out another 60k to cover the tuition and living expenses since the director said I pretty much can't work to help offset any costs. Is 60k (give or take, there are some additional living expenses I'll have this year) an average cost for an ABSN?
3. Is Marian University a good program? lol
I'm just worried I'm getting into something I can't handle after graduation. Thanks for any replies!
My student loan from previous degree and current loan now(when I'm done with my nursing school) will be 65k there about, and I still cry everyday because of that. Please don't do it. I looked into that particular school, once I found out about the cost, I withdrew my application immediately. Look into lynchburg college, is a great program for two years, and their tuition for the entire program is 25k. I'm currently in the program, and I love it. Cost of living is very decent too.
A couple of options to consider are agreeing to serve 2-3 yrs post grad in an under served community. There are programs that will provide loan forgiveness for up to $40k for your service. Also look into the VA. Then you could go to school part-time for your NP working for an employer who will pay for your degree.

My ABSN program is about 6k per semester, 4 semesters. If you can get into a state school with a lower tuition, this is a much better route. If you can't, then I think ADN is the way to go.
