hi,
I am rying to get into Rn program and going to college for Prerequisites. My college(CCSN)Las Vegas has selection criteria, i know i will get good GPA around 3.70. My college use the NLN as pre addmission exam. but i am so scared about pre addmission exam. plz help me and share your expeirence about the pre admission exam. i do not know wat score in the test help me to get in the course. i really do not want to stay in the waiting line. so plz help me.
Get the study guide and review it cover to cover, even if you meet people that have taken the test and say "don't worry about studying"..............study it anyway. Usually the test will be identical in structure to the study guide. I took the NET and the TEAs and that was the case with both. I was worried about my tests when other people didn't seem to be worried at all. I got high 80s percentage on both. They're actually not that hard but they are timed which in some portions is stressful.
I am studying right now to take the TEAS in two weeks. I have the study guide. I am pretty good with the Reading, English, and Math. It is the Science I am worried about. I am good with Anatomy...it is the Physics that gets to me. I take Chemistry next quarter. I think there are only supposed to be 30 questions on the Science part. I would think some of those would be on Anatomy....surely, some people that have not had Chemistry pass this test? Did you have Chemistry before the test? Thanks for any input.

I did have Chemistry prior to the test but some of the science questions on the TEAS I just guessed at. There were very few that were foriegn to me as far as science. Just know whats in the study guide. I remember some of the math questions were so ridiculous they were something like this....................If a hot dog stand has an inventory of 8 dogs, 6 burgers and 2 pounds of fries and the sell them for .08 per hot dog and they purchased them for .04 per hot dog, what was the average profit if they sold x hot dogs and 1 lb. of fries? They did the same thing with baking cookies. When I walked out I was like, "I'm glad our entire future depends on our ability to bake cookies and sell #$*&@ - ing hot dogs! :chuckle

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I think I will do ok....this just seems like unwanted pressure. I am wearing my study booklet out! Good Luck in your nursing career!
I also am trying to get into the RN program at SBU/St. Johns in Springfield Mo. and they require a pre-exam. It's called the HESI. Anyone take that?
Haven't heard of it.......did you do a search and see what came up? Good luck to you.
To the best of my knowledge all the pre-entrance exams are consist of similar subjects, so I am assuming it might be like the NLN or TEAS :)

Hi there,
In my particular case, I have not had chemistry in over 20 years... It is not a pre-req. at the school that I am attending. However, I am happy to report that I got my PAX test score back and it is 137 percentile- what a relief..... I was very stressed over taking the test in the 1st place, but was thrown for a loop with all of the physics.. Apparently there are 3 versions of the test that are given out in the room.. (I just so happened to get the one that was heavy in physics). I agree with the previous posts.... Common sense will help you narrow down some of the answers--but some of them were from left field for me.. maybe this will help you..... there is another girl who posts on here that is from my hometown. Apparently she has gone out of her way to make a website for people like us -with study tips, and guides (what a lot of work-wow!) anyhow I have seen her post her site on here before. It is http://homepage.mac.com/melissa33
She has items to study for the pre-entrance exam, as well as anatomy class...anyhow (if you are like me) I'll take anything that I can get that will help me learn the info better. I hope that this helps you... Good luck!!

Thanks so much for replying. I did find some other comments on this site that were helpful, also. It helps getting any sort of feedback. I have 2 weeks until my test date, so I am working on knowing the study booklet inside and out. I hope you are doing well in your nursing career.
I think the NLN exam is the most diifficult. I took the Asset test. This test included only basic math, grammar, and reading. The NET test is similar. I know of one school that requires the NLN in Illinois. The rest have the NET, Asset, or reading test. This includes the Universities.
I am not suggesting that you not take the test, just letting you know that another school may have an easier test.

sooooo glad to get all the replies. I am attending Ivy Tech in Evansville, IN. I take the Teas Test on the 19th. This fall I have A&P 2 & Chemistry. After completing those I will have my prerequistes done. Our school use to have the NET...they just changed and my bunch will be the first to have to take the TEAS. After getting the study booklet....I wasn't so sure...but now I have looked it over, and gotten some feed back on the test....I think I will do ok. One thing, for sure, right after I take it....I will post, so others coming behind me will have another opion to go by. Thanks

Hi,
There was no geology in the study guide nor the test. The study guide was the NLN 2nd edition. I wish you luck!!!
