I'm just curious how often you're in class and how often you're in clinicals and at what time of day and what days of the week?

I'm not in the nursing program there but I do attend school there & once a month they do information sessions on all their healtcare programs. They're having one for the RN program Thursday @ 5:30pm

It varies. The first semester, classes run from 9-3ish, MTWR, for the first 9 weeks. Then clinicals begin and you will have clinicals W/R from approx 7am to 2/3pm. You will continue to have class MT the last six weeks also. Fridays are always for open lab-not mandatory but helpful to practice skills.
I'm not certain about consecutive semesters, but I know that they begin clinicals immediately and my understanding is that the schedule can be more random. I think at that point you might have the option of a longer single day and/or evening shifts for clinical.
The clinical schedule and hours were one of the reasons I chose AACC over another BSN program. The BSN clinical hours were longer single days and much farther driving time. For me, it wasn't optimal because I needed to juggle getting the kids to school and someone being home when the kids got home from school. With AACC, it looks like either DH or I can be home to meet the bus and we will only have to pay extra for morning care.

Hey there! Happy holidays to all. This is my first time responding to any sort of topic on AllNurses. I am a student at the college, AACC, in the nursing program. I just completed my first year of nursing school! Whahoooeee! Very happy.
If you are interested in being a student at AACC, the schedule is not that bad. Your first semester, you basically are in school Mon.-Thurs. and Fridays are usually off, but occasionally have classes. Class days are 9:00 to 3:00 basically. Fridays are open Lab.This is when you can "practice" what you learned in your clinical lab classes. You have to pass the math test before being able to go into clinical. Clinicals are on Tuesday and Wednesday, usually 7:00 to 3:00 or 8:00 to 4:00, varies by site. Second semester, clinical days are the same, classes are not as long.
AACC is a great school. Very intense. Very competetive. If you apply yourself, you will do well. Nursing is a great profession and as a nurse, with the knowledge retained, you can help your community so well!
Good luck in your endeavors.....Happy New Year

Hi ...I know this post is old. I recently got accepted into AACC- nursing prgm (RN). I start next month. Is there any advice that you offer on getting a head start in class and being pre pared?
Congrat's! I begin second semester in August. I would suggest just being confident in your A&P (especially if it has been awhile since taking it), math skills esp. conversions; and time management. I would advise against trying to work also, although I know some folks didn't have an option. If you have the book list, read through the Nugent book now. It will help to put things in perspective for you.
