Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) Nursing
Hi Sienna...I also attend AACC Nursing PRGM. I was interested in Kowing about the schedule and books need for 3rd semester. I just completed my first year, excited about finishing strong. Is MedSurg 2 as challenging as medsurgI? Is Peds more demanding than MedSurg2. I would like to read ahead and would like to know what to expect from the mental health aspect of medsurg II and also what book I should get for Peds. Thanks for any info.

Becoming a nurse as an Air Force wife
I am in my second semester of NS and I am also an AF wife. I was actually in for several years and then got out, so I have the experience of being a vet and a dependent wife. My husband is currently stationed in a remote location for a yr ( it will be a yr in Aug 10). I have two school aged kids and I have done well managing everything m,y first semster successfully. I would advise you to wait until after he has completed tech school to start applying for actual Nursing schools. It is usually a 2 yr prgm, so you want to make sure that you can stay together. As a first term airman he should be able to make a list of places he wants to get stationed. However, they only consider this request...its not always guarenteed. As far as prerequisites, you can take them anywhere. I completed mine while I was still active duty. I just took night classes. Online classes are good, but for the major science classes, I recommend taking them in a classroom. Hope all goes well with your plans.

Anyone Applied to Howard Community College for Fall '09
I received an acceptance letter about two weeks ago. I was initially waitlisted back in May. I got accepted for Spring 2010. However, I am currently in nursing school--already accepted by AACC, so I declined.

Got AACC acceptance today!
The deadline for the fall applicants was Mar 15th. I recdeived my " you've been placed on the waitlist" letter around the first week in June. I attended the initial orientation and was taken off the waitlist within 30 minutes of being at the orientation ( Praise God:yeah:). I would just brush up on your main prerequisites ( A&P II, Microbiology, Chemistry). Reading books on critical thinking and test-taking for nurses would also be helpful. If you get an acceptance letter or waitlist letter, make sure you attend the orientation and make sure your vaccinations are up to date. I applied to AACC and HCC. I was waitlisted for both schools. Then later on, I was accepted by both schools and turned down HCC. I hope this was helpful. If you are meant to be a nurse, you will get in.
