AACC Spring 2012 hopefuls?

U.S.A. Maryland

Hello fellow MD nurses!

I'm just looking to see if there are any prospective Spring 2012 students at AACC? I'm finishing up A&P2 this summer and will be putting my application in in the fall. Anyone take the TEAS yet? Any advice? I'll probably take mine in August when I'm done with classes so I can focus on studying for that as opposed to my other classes.

No, but I raised my hand when they asked if anyone wanted to switch in.

I was the chick that was 20 minutes late. I had a rough night previously. Sat on the Tarmac at Dallas ft worth for 2.5 hours and didn't get back home until 3:30 am.

I'm glad some of us are in the same section :)

Regarding the full time credit status.. I was just talking with the financial aid office about one of my current classes, and mentioned the nursing program being considered full time and I was told that wasn't the case for any federal aid. I'm so confused.. the nursing people say it is, financial aid people say it isn't. So now I'm back to being stressed out about that!

It has always been my understanding that for the majority of awards (federal and state) that they go by credits. I have a few state awards that I only get if I am full time. It doesn't get reduced if I'm part time or 3/4 time- I don't get them at all.

I'd recommend taking an online course to supplement your credits. I have taken a few that are beyond easy. They required maybe an hour of work a week. If you'd like some recommendations, I can PM you. I don't want to put any teachers on blast here by saying their classes are ridiculously easy.

That's what I initially expected, but after hearing that at orientation that they consider it full time I wasn't as worried about it. I don't do well with online classes, I'm taking one right now that's "easy" but still requires more time that I want to spend on something not-nursing school related.. especially for the next four semesters. I'm going to email the lady from orientation that mentioned it and try to figure out why there's mis-communication between them and financial aid. I'll just continue to search for more grants/scholarships or if I have to I'll take out a small loan. I appreciate the advice, but I just don't want to deal with more online classes. After having no choice but to take them for the past year I'm burnt out, and I don't do well in them.

I totally understand! Let us know what they say, I'm interested in knowing what the deal is because I planned on supplementing to push me over to full time. But if I don't have to, I won't.

Good luck with everything!

Hey everyone....orientation was pretty good the other day and today I had my CPR class so I am finally finished with my requirements. :) I'm in 002 also so I guess we will be getting to know each other during class. It will be nice to put faces with names.

I had my CPR class yesterday as well and now have completed all of my requirements. :) I can't wait for January 18th to get here!

I'm in 849 or whatever the hybrid number was. Did anyone get Hybrid that was hoping for it since a couple of people backed out of it?

I got into Hybrid as I had expected! So excited & cant wait to start in January :D

So I have been looking over this schedule trying to figure out what days I will be able to keep at work. What nights does it look like to you, that we will have to have free for class? Mondays are exam nights and Wednesdays are lab nights. But what about Tuesdays? Do you think this is something that we should definately attend??

Well I don't think you will "definitely" have to attend the exam reviews on Tuesday evenings because it says that it's optional. I will attending because I think reviewing what I got right/wrong on exams will give me an idea as to what I may need to concentrate/study more on. I will be attending all of the optional open labs as well. I won't be working though. I chose hybrid because I have a 2 1/2 yr. old and a 1 yr. old and day care is way to expensive. It looks like Thrusday's are pretty much always free, and Friday's up until April. All Wednesday's are free in April though. I bought a weekly/monthly planner and wrote all of our schedule in there. It really helps you to see what day's you'll have free etc.

I hope all of you 002's are interested in starting a study group.
