AA in Liberal Arts

If I take two more classes, I'll earn an AA in liberal arts. I'm in an ADN program. One class, I would need for my BSN and it would transfer. As it's cheaper at my community college, that one is a no brainer. The other course is a PE course. It can even be just a one credit course. They even offer online PE courses (huh?). A one credit course would be about $200.

Any reason I should not just go ahead and get this second degree? Seems like a no-brainer, but the collective AN knowledge knows all!

Time and money. I guess if you have both and you think an AA is worth it, why not?

I wouldn't, just because I think an AA is not worth the two classes I would hypothetically lack. That's just me though -- I was in the same position with my first BA ten years ago. No use for the BS (no pun intended)!

I found having my AA helped when transferring for my BSN program-U didn't have to repeat courses, and all my credits carried over.

If you're in an ADN program, I would not. You may not be eligible for financial aid if you have a previous degree. Talk to the financial counselors first and find out the SAP rules. If you plan on going to the BSN program instead, then I would talk to them and make sure you're admitted first before getting a degree.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely talk with my school more before I do anything.
