A week from Monday is my certification exam. I'm nervous!

I need to take a reeeallly deeeep breath and slow down the HR too! It's a week away and I'm very stressed. I have been studying non stop and I took a 10 week course offered through a local U that my work paid for. Even with all this prep, I feel like I know nothing!

Any words of wisdom?

I just renewed my Nurse Executive with ANCC and had way more CEs and options than I needed. I'm sure AMSN I'll be fine, I've presented at their National Conventions and serve as Secretary for my Local Chapter.

That's cool. How did you get involved? I didn't see a local chapter for WA or in my area anyway.

I would like to have more certifications, just don't know in what, lol. Maybe diabetes, but I need to know what that would mean education wise and even it if exists.

Go to the National AMSN website and look under chapters. Be innovative..........start one!

I think I did at one time which makes me think there wasn't one. I would be more than happy to start a chapter if I really knew what they did, lol.

Chapters promote the speciality of Medical Surgical nursing. Go to the website and contact someone. We have monthly meetings with presentations done by members r/t M/S. We do fundraising, give scholarships for the certification exam as well as off setting the cost of attending the National Convention. We do a one day education seminar with CEs attached. Take your exam and then we'll talk. Good Luck

I took my exam in Feb and passed. :)

Any tips on study materials? I got a review book but its very blah. I am thinking I might be better off with review questions, but not sure if I should buy the book ones, or pay the 50 bucks for the online ones.

I used the Amsn books as well as their review book. I think that helped the most because the review questions were close to the actual questions
