The weeks of waiting for acceptance or rejection letters are dwindling down to days. Between the constant email-checking and All Nurses forum-checking, I wrestle with the thought that I have become a slave to thesix schools that hold my future in their hands.
It's bad, folks... Especially in the evenings, when I eagerly check my home mailbox only to find a Penny Saver and Del Taco coupons, a mockery of a consolation prize. My fate for the day is sealed and I know that the hope of receiving any responses is dead. All I can do is wait to repeat this agonizing ritual again the next day.
The kettle is not boiling because I always have an eye on it. My mind is screaming, "BOIL ALREADY!" but, of course, that never helps.
What about you? How do you pass the time to keep from going crazy?
Our application deadline was June 1... Supposedly letters go out 3-4 weeks from then. I'm on pins and needles. Even knowing it's too early, I obsessively check my school email/student info status and pretty much am stalking our poor mailman. LOL! Argh. Anyone gotten great news lately?
June 1 for the Fall classes? Our school did something really different this year. They had an April 1 application deadline for those who were all finished with pre reqs, a June 1 deadline for those who would be finished during the first summer session, and a July 25 deadline for those who would be finished for the second summer session. For only about 40 slots! I was lucky to FINALLY be accepted after trying twice before, but honestly, it was because I didn't give up and took co reqs to stay enrolled. I remember in my A & P II class Spring semester, most of the girls in there were nursing students, and they were taking A & P II along with NUR 111, Pharmacology, ITE and SDV. (I have all of those done except the NUR course). They said they cried EVERY DAY. I watched a couple of them struggle so much they dropped out of nursing. I am so glad to have the co reqs done, all of them. All I have to take are core NUR courses, no humantities, no health, no math, no psych, no ITE, no SDV, no Eng. I can't imagine if I had to do all of that while taking the NUR courses as well.
Yeah, it's for the fall semester. I feel like we're so behind! I have read here on AN that lots of people have already had their orientations!
Yes and that's freaking me out! The only way I even know what vaccinations to get is because I looked at the ADN student handbook online and saw that we are actually supposed to bring our records to orientation. But that's all the information I could find in there about what preparations we are supposed to make. They haven't sent us that information at all. So at least I can get started on that. It will give me something to focus on instead of my inbox or the mailbox! And we can't get uniforms, shoes, books, or anything until we know what we are supposed to get. Grr.
