The AS and AAS would be the same number of total credit hours and would have the same nursing credits. The difference is in the electives accepted for the general education credits.
The AS requires that your electives be in the arts and sciences (humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences/math). The AAS allows free electives, so those credits could be for classes outside of the arts and sciences like nutrition, education, or health. (Even though they're called "free" electives in the AAS degree plan, there are still a few restrictions - no PE credits and no remedial classes, for example.)
According to the School of Nursing Catalog, many people with allied health or applied professional backgrounds may find the AAS more accomodating since they will more easily be able to apply credits from their previous studies.

Yup, what he said up there ... LOL Because I have two Associates degrees already, I fit into the AS slot -- I have a bunch of arts and sciences credits. The folks at Excelsior fit you into the best path for the credits you already have. :)
I guess i fit in the AS , thats where EC placed me so...here i go!!...XoXo
I was an AS grad as well, because I had four years of college and only a couple of semesters of EMS credits. Good luck, Sue!
thanx..i can't help but feel a bit nervous...but im shooting for end of oct for nc 1...lol...now that my lil one is in school i can get started on my studies...XoXo
