In Florida, can a CNA draw blood? I do not see it under the Florida Nurse Practice act. I have heard that CNAs can be trained to do so without a phlebotomy cert. Can you clarify? Also, outside of the CNA scope in the nurse practice act, it says (and I am para-phraising) a RN can delegate a task to a CNA if they feel the CNA is qualified. Would that include EKG?
Please let me know from your experiences in LTC or Hosp.
Thanks so much,
Brenney
When you are at a hospital, the CNA can draw blood if they have been trained to do so. They have classes for nursing staff- nursing staff includes LPNs, CNA, EMT's.....
Yes, an RN can delegate a task to a CNA if they feel that the CNA is qualified-- and most likely it will not be an EKG, usually at the hospital there is an EKG tech that will do that- that's their job description.
At doctor's offices a medical assistant can do EKG.
