A problem with CVS for NY???

So I now know that it will be easier to go the NY way than any other state. But what I am really concerened about applying at NY is that your application will only be as fast as the processing of your CVS. And this depends mainly on how fast your country's BON and school respond and integrity of the post. Ok, CGFNS will do the job for you. I've been said that they do an excellent job on it. But what if the BON or your school messes up? You dont have any control.

Time for questions...

1. How does CGFNS contact the licensing agency and school? Mail?

2. Will I be notified that they have sent notice to the two? Because the mail might have been sitting on their desks w/o them doing anything about it.

3. How far will CGFNS go in case the BON and school doesnt respond to them?

I dont know if the Philippines' BON/PRC does a good job corresponding with CGFNS. And Ive asked my school if they've handled this thing for NY licensure and was answered that theyve only done the CA type.

Of course this will not be a problem if your country's BON and your school has a good record dealing with CGFNS.

You don't have to worry about all these things.

Let them do their job. Just make sure you do your part.

1. they would contact your school and PRC by standard mail

2. you will NOT be notified by PRC. it is possible for your school to notify you though....you will be notified by cgfns that they already sent the letters to PRC and your school through your online status in CGFNS

3. CGFNS will send 3 letters to both PRC and your school.....i doubt they will go as far as calling PRC and your school

good luck

Hi,

I had a lot of trouble with CVS N.Y. They were not able to obtain any kind of documents ! They do not call, they send out the letters and just wait. If nothing comes back they are supposed to write a report to the BON and the BON will make a judgement call or will ask you to send in more informations.

I think if you are sure that your school will get the forms and they will be able to fill them out, fine, otherwise : :uhoh21:

Also have a close look at the BON informations regarding the state you finally want to practise, they might not issue a license with CVS only !

I wasted more than one year with N.Y. and saw today that they mailed out a report. I applied more than one year ago. I know that they are suppose to send a report within 180 days but this never happened , I also got the QM involved.

But perhaps you will be fine with N.Y.. I don't have the impression that they put much effort into whatever they do there.

have you thought of new mexico for initial licensure? it's fast, but you also have to put time for the endorsement of license to your preferred state. you can continue with cvs at the same time as with new mexico but it can cost more. when cvs report comes out within 6 to 8 months (after you pass nclex for nm), then you endorse from nm to ny. visascreen can also be processed after passing the nclex for nm. you might want to consider this. :monkeydance:

thanks very much for all the useful info.

i think that CGFNS will be doing their part. the reason why i think there will be a problem is the terrible postal service or lack of action of the school or local BON.

ill definitely look at NM, Vt or CA. :)
