  1. thanks everyone. i definitely want to the the NY way but dont have much confidence on some local stuff. the CVS for NY looks like a very good service. sadly, it might not work for me.
  2. thanks very much for all the useful info. i think that CGFNS will be doing their part. the reason why i think there will be a problem is the terrible postal service or lack of action of the school or local BON. ill definitely look at NM, Vt or CA. :)
  3. CA will let you have the nclex w/o the english exam and any CGFNS service. If you pass you will not get your license w/o giving them your SSN. But you will still have to take the english exam and Visascreen for immigration purposes.
  4. I want to know your experience with the BON/PRC with regards to them sending CGFNS the needed documents, for the use in CVS-NY. Did you wait too long? Or did you have to do follow ups etc? Im sure we know how bad some govt agency's service get. But maybe the BON/PRC is an exemption. What I know is that I will have a hard time with my school. Contrary to CGFNS' statement that they will do the gathering of the documents, I am sure Ill have to do some leg work just to have my papers moving. I want to look deeper into this bec going the NY route might not be the best for some of us. Bec if we apply at CA, we will have some sort of control on the sending of the documents. We will be the ones to request the BON/PRC and school to send what CGFNS wants (instead of them waiting for CGFNS to contact them).
  5. So I now know that it will be easier to go the NY way than any other state. But what I am really concerened about applying at NY is that your application will only be as fast as the processing of your CVS. And this depends mainly on how fast your country's BON and school respond and integrity of the post. Ok, CGFNS will do the job for you. I've been said that they do an excellent job on it. But what if the BON or your school messes up? You dont have any control. Time for questions... 1. How does CGFNS contact the licensing agency and school? Mail? 2. Will I be notified that they have sent notice to the two? Because the mail might have been sitting on their desks w/o them doing anything about it. 3. How far will CGFNS go in case the BON and school doesnt respond to them? I dont know if the Philippines' BON/PRC does a good job corresponding with CGFNS. And Ive asked my school if they've handled this thing for NY licensure and was answered that theyve only done the CA type. Of course this will not be a problem if your country's BON and your school has a good record dealing with CGFNS.
  6. what i am concerned about is that having some "experience" might give you a little edge compared to that of a person having none. of course i dont know how hospitals hire in the US. for example, there are two applicants for a particular postion, say OR nurse. Of course whoever will be chosen will be trained. but i am thinking that the one who had some kind of experience might be easier to train. does this make sense?
  7. For me, the lure of these "trainings" is to have some confidence in performing various nursing procedures. But as stated, for credentials, it is pretty much useless.
  8. after reading this, id probably change my mind and apply at NY. I was hoping i could make it easier by skipping the CES and language exams. I know it will take longer but I am not in a big hurry anyways. While can work, I dont want to be stuck in CA if ever I decide to go to another state. And as Ive read, the extra cost can be deducted in the future.
  9. ohh no... if you want to go to OLFU you will do yourself a big favor by staying away from the QC campus. ive heard of so many horror stories.
  10. Welcome to both of us here in the forums. :) I cant say which one is the best but I can try and help you look for one that is suited to you. Some schools dont accept second coursers. While others will, they will not credit your GE subjects taken in your 1st course. Others will take you in wholeheartedly of course. Will you be studying full time? You may also want to look at the schedule they are offering. There are a lot of school affiliated with VMMC. I cant name all of them. for the 2 years, the 25K will be enough for some schools. It will definitely go up in you last year.
