A PROBLEM ABOUT reciprocity and CVS

Published

HI everyone.

im pleased to be part of this site. before posting this thread, i was amazed with how you guys try to help each other by answering the questions that puzzles your co-members.:redpinkhe

as a newbee i have this question;

i am a u.s. immigrant. i graduated nursing last 2007 in the philippines. i applied for my nclex at saipan because eligibilities arrive faster compared when you apply to other states.now, il be taking my nclex in NY. And i plan to work here. Got any idea about the reciprocity requirements?

do i need a cvs?

thanks a lot!:saint:

hmmm sounds you need endorsement of license. well you have to undergo the new york credential service which is exclusively done by cgfns and that takes longer so better apply it ahead of time. visit http://www.cgfns.com for the New York credential services.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

As a foreign nurse you still have to get CVS for NY and as mentioned can take anything from 6-12 months to get. I doubt that you will get a license from NY until it is sorted

We do not have reciprocity of licenses, only the results of the NCLEX exam are accepted by all states and territories. There is no reciprocity for licenses, you are going to need to meet their requirements. And that means the CVS needs to be completed first.

You may have saved time getting approval to sit for the NCLEX exam for Saipan, but you are going to be adding on time on the other end as they are quite slow in doing things and they are not computerized.

As mentioned above, you are going to need to complete the CVS, and that can take on average of 8 months to get done before NY will even look at your application.

Immigration and licensure are two very different things and even if you had US citizenship, you would be considered as a foreign-trained RN and will always need to follow the requirements for that.
