A pre nurse student, help? Advice? Anything

Ok so fall 2008 I started my pre reqs seminole community college (I just graduated high school 6/2008). My first semester I completer english I, gen psychology, sociology and biology. This semester I am in microbiology, dev psych and humanities. I plan on taking anatomy over the summer and will finish off all my pre reqs in the fall 2009. So that's where my confusion lies. As of right now I plan on applying for the rn program in spring so I can start fall 2010....... but I'm scared I will have to wait for a long time. But I've considered to just take the can course so at least I can get some hands on experience while I wait. What should I do? I could do the lpn program then the bridge but id have to work as an lpn for 1000 hours in order to start the rn bridge. I have 2 options and I really am confused

thank you for your response, i was planning on doing the nursing assistant course as you mentioned. because i really didnt want to do the lpn route like people are telling me because my main goal is my adn right now. It seems like you have it all figured out and are very successful. what is a nurse extern? i have never heard of that

thank you... many hospitals offer jobs to nursing students as nurse externs after you have completed one year of clinical course work. if your hospital has such jobs talk to hr once you have started working as a cna. my hospital actively recruits nurse externs from the local schools. however, i was working as a tech at my hospital and was friends with the more senior nursing students, thus i received a lot of information before the recruiters dropped by my school and prepared myself to meet the application requirements! :up:
