A nurse from the UK

A friend from the UK who is also a nurse is looking to move to the United States. She was asking me about agencies who bring nurses from the UK or anywhere else to work in the United States. I didn't have any information for her but I thought allnurses would be a good place to inquire.

So if you know of how a nurse from the UK can get to work here in the United States or the process of getting it sorted, please let me know.

Look up retrogression and find that your friend will have several years wait, going with an agency will not matter and they can do it themselves by getting registered with a state, meet their requirements sit and pass NCLEX and then look for a employer. Looking for a employer will be the hard part as many no longer want to wait several years for them to get a immigrant visa. Some agencies have closed due to retrogression

So nice to know that your friend is seeking to come to US for employment as a nurse. I don't know if agencies still recruit foreign nurses. I remember in 2002 many foreign nurses were recruited to work in hospitals/nursing homes in New Jersey. Their employer were able to file their Green Card paper after been employed based on their contract/agreement with the employer. Being that nursing is a regulated profession, your friend has to know which state will be more suitable and their process for registration. Best way to find out is to contact the state board of nursing in which your friend wants to settle; and also contact immigration. Working as a nurse in US will provide many opportunities to grow. Your friend can choose to endorse to any state of his/her choice once passed Nclex and registered in a state. Many states have compact license agreement which can allow your friend to work in about 13 states or more without going through the process of endorsement. If your friend wants to proceed with seeking to come to US, let him/her give it a try. There might be some difficulties on the road to success, but it worths a try. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. I pray your friend will find favor in achieving his/her goals.
