A little nervous about agency nursing...

Specialties Agency

Published

I just had an interview with NurseFinders and everything looks good at the time. However, I am a little worried about my lack of experience as a "3" year LPN. I just moved and worked on a Postpartum floor (my first job) for the last 3 years, and I did not develop many skills that I could use in my advantage on say a Medical Surgical floor. My recruiter is aware of this and states that I will be fine. She has set me up for an orientation next week for a Rehab floor that deals with things I have not been exposed to. I was just wondering what are some of your experiences with this agency? Where you just thrown into an area or were you given a day or so orientation to become famililar with everytyhing. I am a little nervous because I would like to expand my skills, but I do not think I would be to comfortable getting thrown into something.

Thanks for reading this!

Just wondering how things worked out for you. It's been a while since your post. Are you still working with Nursefinders? Did you receive the orientation you felt you needed?

I am sorry no one responded to your thread.

I have done agency since 1978, extensive orientations are non-exsistent usually. Computer system orientation 4 of 8 hours, and then report 2 hours prior to you first shift. Some places do NOT even give you the computer training, you either paper chart (which drives everyone else crazy looking for things in the computer that are not there), or expect the staff to "help you through it".

I am not from NM, but can tell you that NF does not have a good reputation on the East Coast where I reside. They are the highest paid, first cancelled, do not replace shifts, and do NOT support you if an issue arrives.

I wish you luck and HOPE you are enjoying the f reedom agency nursing gives.
