Scenario:

Your client was at work when he caught his forearm in a piece of machinery that caused deep lacerations and abrasions. Describe the inflammatory process that had been initiated as a result of this injury.

Can you guys help me to start off here...I can't get my brain to work, or I might be readig too much into such an easy question....sufferig from "Paralysis by Analysis."

Thanks!

If it was my project, I'd look through the blood components and lymph, and describe which ones would show up for the party, so to speak, and why.

For example, the machinery had, say, bacteria on it. What type of wbc would collect at the site?

Was the machinery really hot? Hot enough to burn? Maybe lymph begins to arrive.

I'd start off with haemeostasis- vasoconstriction element of it, to help with blood clotting. the platelets come into contact with exposed colagen from damaged bloodvessels and release chemicals that stimulate coagulation. Then go into vasodilation, this brings all the necessary components into the site of insult; plasma proteins, antibodies, leucocytes and electorolytes.

I'd mabye split it up into local and systmeic inflammation too. It sounds like ts a big wound so maybe adrenaline etc?

the pathophysiology of cell damage and the inflammatory response is something you will need to know for upcoming nursing diagnosing as well. this subject comes up all the time during care planning questions and it was discussed some time ago on this thread referenced below. pay particular attention to post #3:

there are lots of sticky threads in this forum where you will find the answers to many questions commonly asked by students (for example, the pathophysiology of the inflammatory response https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/pathophysiology-p-microbiology-fluid-electrolyte-resources-145201.html)
