A little advice please for Cincinnati

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hello,

I need a little advice from anyone in Cincinnati, OH or has knowledge of the area. I am set to graduate in May with my BSN (Yay!) and am moving to Cincy from out of state. Due to this, besides what I can find on the internet (not super helpful sometimes) I have no clue where to start looking for jobs. I am applying at Christ, University, and the trihealth hospitals and hope to get into a Internship at any of those. But on the off chance I don't where is a good place to start looking? I am open to suggestions on just about anything that will accept new grads. I looked on careerbuilder, but that leaves me a little lost because I don't want to end up working for some shady company. Any help would be very much appreciated!! Thank you!

Specializes in ER, ICU, cardiac.

The major three health providers in this area are Trihealth, Health Alliance, and Mercy Hospitals.

Christ is its own entity. It used to be a part of the Health Alliance. I work for the Health Alliance at Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, north of Cincinnati. I came there straight out of nursing school and I am happy with my choice. I have been out 4.5 years and gone from cardiac, to ICU, now to Er. I love my job :) I think it really depends on what area of Cincinnati you plan on relocating to. Do you know? All of the health systems are very reputilble and accept new grads. Good Luck!! I can definately help more if you have any other questions about the area :)

look into st elizabeth and st luke in nothern kentucky. they are only about 10-15 minutes outside of cincinnati and hire new grads as well.

what area of nsg are you interested in??? Some hospitals offer internships to new grads in certain areas (i.e. ICU, ER, OR, etc). And some hospitals are more notable in some specialty areas like cardiovascular or neurosurgery. Do you have it narrowed down to a specialty or are you open? Do you want adult or peds? teaching hospital with residents/fellows/etc. or private? Does it matter where in the city you want to work? Do you want a level 1 trauma or smaller hospital?? That will help us narrow it down a bit for you!
