A Day in the Life Of....

Hey All,

I am currently a BSN in the hospital setting, full time, and am thinking about adding a part time job, and was thinking that home health may be the way to go. The only thing is.....I don't know much about it. :-) I was wondering if some of you could share your experiences about what you actually do during the day, and how long it takes, and if it may be a worthwhile avenue of part time employment for me.

Many thanks in advance!

I am worried about the professional risks you are taking in adding a part-time job to a full-time job. This could be held against you should a complaint be made against your competency.

It is easier to add a shift or two of extended care nursing to a full time hospital job. You do your shift, complete the documentation during the shift, and that is that. No worry about setting up several appointments, driving all over, schedule juggling, finishing up paperwork on your own time, doing follow-up, etc., which would be difficult to accomplish in addition to full time employment elsewhere.

Thanks Caliotter3. I would just be adding a day or two here and there, not part time per say, more like a per diem. Are extended care nursing shifts found through a home health agency? That sounds way easier than the latter half of what you described. Thanks again. :-)
