Specializes in Anesthesia.
Who has the time or energy to do that? Seriously.

I used to work part-time and goto school part-time on the side....I also plan to start working part time this summer, and start on my Doctorate in the near future.

Do I wear my scrubs or change into others when I get to work? Do I need to buy new scrubs? eeek! More expenses.

Every base I have been to so far provided scrubs.

They'll provide them, and you'll go into work in the uniform of the day - unless you get lucky and your facility lets you go in in PT gear (which I've been told some do, as long as you keep a uniform at work).

Essentially if you work days you're going in in uniform, will see no one, change into scrubs, change back into your uniform, and leave the facility - again seeing no one...silly but required. :)

What is the ABU? Is it camoflauge? I'm just curious. I've heard the term BDU before but not ABU. Do we have both now? One day I will look back on this question and laugh :lol2:

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

ABU = airman battle uniform, I think?

Specializes in ED. ICU, PICU, infection prevention, aeromedical e.

I'm off to get my uniforms today. I hope I have no problems. I have my commissioning papers and hope they let me get it all. I've listened to everyone's advice and I know it will all be just fine (that's me reassuring myself. lol).

SOOOOO not a fan of "ABU"....

Technically speaking, both are authorized through October of this year; I think the BDU officially disappears FY 2012.

I like the way the ABUs fit (they fit SO much better than the old BDUs I remember), but I hate the boots. They don't last and it doesn't take them long to look rough. The whole green suede boot idea was ridiculous, especially since when you get deployed they're going to issue you desert tan ones!
