Is anyone else concerned about the dialysis cuts that may be inevitable? Sounds like there have been quite a number of protests and letters to congress. How do you nurses feel about the big companies control in the industry and having huge shareholders in the stock market? Kind of crazy to think our specialty is almost completely taken over by two international companies. It's hard to find an independent dialysis clinic or hospital based unit anymore. Just wondering how you nurses feel. Here's the most recent article about possibly undoing the dialysis bundle cuts.

Dialysis patients vote too and are expressing their opinion. The government created this monster and are unhappy with how much of their budget it is consuming. Well, if you build it they will come. One letter to the editor pointed to an obvious solution which is an opt out donor consent as opposed to the system we have now. Consent for organ donation would be implied unless otherwise stated. If we had a few hundred thousand more kidneys available for transplant that would change the costs to the government for dialysis therapy. Return dialysis as a bridge to kidney transplantion as it was originally intended.

Dialysis patients are sick and tired of the hypocrisy of the transplant industry.
