A & P.....using index cards..........

Published

For those of you who have already taken A&P, did any of you use index cards to put info on? I was in a drugstore checking out school supplies and saw the index cards and a holder. I thought maybe they would be useful for A&P and the holder would be great for sticking in my purse and then I would always have them. But that was a couple of weeks ago. I came across them last night and started to wonder how I could make them useful. Would they be better for lab when the time comes to memorize muscles and bones? What kind of lecture information would be useful and to the point that I could actually fit it on a 3 x 5 card?

Or would they be more useful if I put them away for when I actually begin nursing classes? I didn't spend much on them so if they aren't going to do me any good right now, it is no big deal. I could always give them to my son to create site words for him for Kindergarten this year.

I have been making flashcard for the terms and questions. But I purchased the Netter cards (as recommended by my instructor) for a visual aide, as I am not the best artist. :D

I made index cards for everything. I tried to make every detail in my notes into a question of sorts so that I knew as much of the material as possible. When it came time to know mitosis/meiosis and bones, I drew pictures and/or scanned pictures from my textbook and blotted out the answers if they were already shown. I used different colored Sharpies in my notes, and I tried to use the same colors on my notecards for pictures so that the same exact picture was burned into my memory.

When I studied the notecards, I put all of the notecards that I got completely right into one pile, and I shuffled the ones that I got wrong together and continued studying them until I had them down.

For what it's worth, I haven't gotten a grade below a 93 in the class on exams or labs. But just remember that there isn't one universal method that works for everyone. Find the one that works for you!
