A&P and Micro together

I personally would not take them together since I work fulltime. If you are not working part time or not working then I believe you can do it. Also, if you have a good science background, I think that would help you.

The only thing I have learned from taking two intense science classes together, is that the learned materials go into shortterm memory rather than longterm because you are cramming so much information at once.

Remember both classes have labs, which require alot of time to grasp the information.

Has anyone ever taken these two classes together? This may have been posted before, but I couldn't find it. Sorry if it is a repeat.

I think its going to depend on you, your instructor and what else you have going on in your life. I am taking ap 101 and Chemistry together its a lot of work! I plan on taking ap 102 and micro in the spring I am scared of this as I have heard alot of people saying don't do it, I already know the amount of work I will have in AP and its ALOT! but if I put of micro another semester it puts me a year behind my goal. So my husband and family know starting in January till May I will be sticking my head down and putting everything I have toward school. I know thats not much help but I have heard other say they have done it so I will give it a try.

I plan on doing the same thing winter semester (A&P II and micro). That way I will be finished with my pre reqs and can apply to the nursing program (I'm already on the wait list for one college). In my current college (OCC in Michigan) micro doesn't have a lab but I hear it isn't an easy class. It really depends on how well you can juggle and how strong your support system is. If you are truely passionate and have a very strong science background, go for it.

Took them both together Spring 2006, but was not working or taking any other courses. Earned an A in both and probably could have handled another course and worked part-time also b/c I didn't have to put as much effort into it as I had originally thought. I think it's because I learned alot in class and took excellent notes.

I'm doing it right now and although the knowledge compliments each other for example there are things I learned in micro that applied to a & p and there are things I learned in a & p that applied to micro, I would have rather taken them seperately. Alot of my micro classmates are already nursing students and doing better than I am (micro is not a pre-requisite at my school but must be finish within the first year of nursing school). From the ones I speak to, the classmates that are taking just one biology each semester are pulling better grades than me. I simply have to divide my attention and sometimes my exams are during the same week and have to sacrifice study time. I know that if I only did one per semester my grades would definately improve.

I say if you can, just take one per semester and start with A & P rather than Microbiology so that when you learn about diseases and the systems they affect in the human body at least you already know the physiology of it. But that's just my opinion!

I took my Anatomy & Physiology II the same semester as Microbiology and made an A in both. I think I used the two together because a lot of the material would relate (maybe I got lucky). I took them through seperate branches of the same community college. I am not saying it was easy by any means. I wouldn't suggest taking much of anything else if you do take the two together. I took one more class, Lifespan Development. As a mom, this class was a breeze for me, so I only had to concentrate on the two sciences. I hope this helps. Staying organized is the key to getting through any class, especially these.

I'm signed up to take APII w/ lab and Micro w/lab this spring. Right now I am taking Chem w/lab, API w/ lab, Sadistics and Ethics. I am pretty sure I will get A's across the board (as long as there are no surprises between now and Dec.), but dang...it takes a lot of work. Next spring is going to be a smaller work load, but I have promised myself I won't slack. I am planning on knocking out some CLEPs that I have had my eyes on.

Since grades are soooo important I have had to come to realise that even if it takes an extra semester......it makes far ore sense to not load yourself down so much that grades suffer.

My school doesn't do A&P I and A&P II, so I took Anatomy one semester with Chemistry, and then Physiology with Micro. It wasn't too bad, but I had a fairly easy Micro teacher. I think it can be done, but I dont work either so I am sure that helped. I just didn't see the point in adding on another semester because I was taking one class at a time. Get in, get it done, and get out!

My school has anatomy and physiology seperately. I took (after I got my chemistry out of the way), Anatomy first, then physiology, currently in Pharm and will take Micro next semester. With each I've gotten some other "lesser" prequisites out of the way. Pharm and Micro are part of the nursing program but can be done ahead of time along with the last Psych. I figure since these courses are the most important and weighted the most heavily, I only want to take them on their own. I work 36 - 48 hrs. a week as a paramedic, and always feel overwhelmed even though my grades are great. I have felt like I've been more able to master the material more fully this way. I jump in on the second year of the nsg. program in June, then will have one year. If I survive that long. Good luck :trout:

i took A&P I at the same time as micro while working full time & i did fine. it was definitely difficult, but worth it since i got my pre-reqs done a semester earlier than if i'd taken them seperately.
