A&P 1 and Intro to Chem?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello! Looking for advice. I'm a 42 year old full time mom who got a BSA in 1999 and am currently beginning the journey towards Being an RN. I haven't done any kind of school or studying since college. I'm currently planning to do anatomy and physiology this fall. Here's the question, I'm also signed up for intro to chemistry. I'm I going to seriously regret that or is it doable? Thanks!

I don't know your study habits or how difficult science classes are for you, and seeing that it's been a while since you've been in college, I would say that it's going to be a challenge.

It's not impossible though. You would need to devote a good amount if time to studying. If you're trying to just get them over with, I guess you can take them both and get a tutor but remember, nursing schools may not be very lenient if you have withdraws in your transcripts, also your GPA needs to be competitive enough to get into most programs.

I did those two classes together. I also returned to college to pursue nursing after getting a BSW degree 10 years ago. A&P takes a LOT of work, but chem was not that difficult so my time was mostly spent on A&P. I was able to get As in both classes. My best advice is to think of school as at least a part time job. I spent about 14 per week in class and another 10 to 15 hours per week studying.

It's definitely doable. Just put in the time and study everyday, you'll be fine. I took A&P along with 3 other classes and got A's in all of them. Just gotta manage your time wisely and study everyday.

Best of luck :)
