A&P 1 and Intro to Chem?

Hello! Looking for advice. I'm a 42 year old full time mom who got a BSA in 1999 and am currently beginning the journey towards Being an RN. I haven't done any kind of school or studying since college. I'm currently planning to do anatomy and physiology this fall. Here's the question, I'm also signed up for intro to chemistry. I'm I going to seriously regret that or is it doable? Thanks!

    Beth Israel Interview

Thanks Krzty_c! I figured they would ask some of the same questions from the essay. Do they throw any situational questions at you, like your a nursing student and the patient does X, what do you do? I was reading the Interview sticky in the forums here and saw that some places ask that. So, you interviewed at Beth Israel and ended up at LICH? Was it because it was closer to where you live or because you like the program/faculty better? I really appreciate your help!

    Beth Israel School of Nursing

Minnielynn, I did apply for the day program. My understanding is that the ATOP program only starts in the Spring, but I'm not entirely sure since I wasn't looking at that program. Did you call them and ask for a brochure? I recommend you do so because they have a nice catalogue that lays everything out. I wish I could find mine because I would give you some more info on the ATOP program.

    Beth Israel School of Nursing

Hi Minnielynn, I have applied to the program and have been asked back for an interview. From the open house they said that you should try to get your application in as soon as possible because applications that get in early tend to be looked at on their own for admission. If you wait til the deadline your application is grouped with everyone else that submitted their application on the deadline when being reviewed for admission. So, your chances of acceptance are better the earlier you get your whole application in. The NLN exam wasn't too bad. The math and verbal felt pretty SAT like, the science was my hardest part since I haven't taken a science class since high school (10 years ago) and I while I don't have the results back I must have done well to get the interview. Another requirement is two letter's of recommendation. Good luck!

    Beth Israel Interview

That's a great question. I had the review books for about 2 months before the test date, but I didn't really seriously study until the week before. I had both NLN's book and Barron's. I liked Barron's for the way it was set up, but it lacked the "meat of content" in the Science section. There were a lot of science questions that weren't even remotely touched on in the Barron's book. I recommend taking a few of the NLN test exams and then focusing on whichever sections you didn't do as well in. Science was my weakest so that's where I did most of my studying. Good luck!

    Beth Israel Interview

Hello everyone! I'm very excited because I got a call from PBISON today to set up an interview about my application. This means that I passed the NLN exam! And from what I remember from the open house an interview means that it's pretty likely you will get into the program. Has anyone had an interview at Beth Israel? If so, can you give me any idea what to expect? I can't wait! Thanks
  7. I have been reading through the threads on this site, and I would like to thank everyone for all their great responses. I have decided to make a career change to nursing, which I am very excited about! I am taking some pre req's at BMCC starting this month, although I am not sure I will try to get into clinical at BMCC since I have been reading all about the wait lists. While doing some pre req's I would love to get some experience and I was wondering if experience is necessary to be a nursing aide. Also, nursing aide jobs don't appear to be posted on local hospital websites, does anyone know of any places in New York City that are looking for Nursing Aides? Thanks!
