A&P / BIO help!!!!

Published

Hey guys, a&p 1 & 2 is a must for my prerequisites but I have a feeling I'll do a horrible job. I just failed biology and I'm retaking it for summer 2016, any advice on how to pass that as well? I'm not a good test taker but I do pay attention, my study quizzes come out great but when it's the actual time for the test, I space out. Any advices on how to study and keep my head in the game? My gpa is a 2.8 which is a good start because it's my second semester in college but I really really wanna get a nice 3.5 and above to be recommended in a nursing program. Help!!!!!

NO advice, since I am needing to take them as well. Needing help also!

Science courses aren't easy at all. I've taken bio and a&p and magically made A's in both courses. I studied and put 100% into those classes. What helped me the most was teaching what I had learned to my husband and study friends. I don't think I would have been able to pass or succeed as I had wanted to without my friend in a&p. We studied together during our time between classes and it helped a ton! If you don't have a friend to study with, find one! Also, peppermint gum. It sounds silly but has been proven that if you study while chewing peppermint gum and then chew it while taking your exams it helps you remember. Idk if it really works, it may be psychological but it helped me. I have to speak out loud to study to retain my information and rewright all of my notes by hand but everyone studies a different way. Find out what works for you. I wish you good luck this summer.

Being able to teach back the information, like stated above, is the most efficient way to ensure that you've learned the material. Once you can do that, spacing out will magically disappear and good grades will follow. Anatomy and Physiology is all recall so keep that in mind when you study.

Since you are new to college I would recommend that you assess how you learn and what methods of learning work for you. For example, are you a visual learner. If so, use pictures, videos to help you. If you are an auditory learner, ask if you can record lectures.

Other tips are to: get a tutor, talk to the professor to see how they can help you and test yourself (like you have been doing). First, test yourself prior to studying the material (assess your prior knowledge) then test yourself after you have studied to see what you learned from the chapter. Repeat if necessary.

I'm more of both honestly. I can learn by visual and auditory. All is good, seriously it is but I just freeze up during test taking.
