Working in Germany as a RN

Hi I'm a New Grad RN from New Zealand and moved to Munich 7 months ago. I have recently just finished my B1 level of German language course and would like to know what I need to do in order to get back to nursing here in Germany. I have done 6 months of Acute Stroke & Medical after which I decided to join my Husband who works here... any suggestions will be highly appreciated... also a little insight to nursing here.

Hi there J perk or so! The following link gets you to the authority in Berlin. Address and numbers on your right side. You are applying to use the title:

[h=1]"Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger/in" [/h]I think there is a test involved (like NCLX) and you will need to pass a German test as well. Started on that one? Good luck.

Just came across this thread! Did anyone get lucky with working as a nurse in Germany? Please could you share your experience? Thanks.

Hello everyone. I have been searching the internet for job openings in Germany for nurses and i came across this thread. I am helping a friend of mine to look for work in Germany, he practiced nursing for almost five years already including 1 year working overseas. Although he is not yet very fluent with German language, he is very much willing to learn. I hope anyone can share their thoughts on applying as a nurse in Germany! thank You and May God Bless you all!

Germany is part of the EU. So, German nationals are hired first, EU citizens second.

I have a friend who nurses in Germany. Pay's not great and it's the same old, same old. Short staffed, heavy workload...

Has anyone ever worked as an aesthetic nurse in Germany? There have to be plenty of plastic surgery and medispa jobs for nurse injectors. How does it work in Germany?

Germany is a very different culture/regulations ...

There are no advanced practice nurses in Germany and a lot of things are strictly regulated. I worked in Germany as a nurse for close to 10 years and I have never encountered nurse injectors. Things like botox and such are done by MDs as far as I know. Also, plastic surgery other than for medical reasons is not as popular in Germany as it is for example in the US....

Nursing is not as highly regarded in Germany.

You will take home much less in your pocket than in the US because of the complicated tax law and mandatory contribution to a variety of insurances you have to have and can not opt out.

Standard of living overall is high - but cost of living are high as well.

You have to speak fluently and write as well - you need to pass a test.

EU citizen have priority for jobs.

hello i am interestend for informacion thank you

Hello Mona77,

this may be a long shot since you haven't been online for so long. I am a German Nurse myself and I would have so many questions I'd like to ask you. So, if you see this message, please get in touch with me.
