New ADN RN to Wisconsin

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hi there! I'm currently an ADN student in Illinois. My ultimate goal is to move to WI, as I go there several times a year, have many friends there and generally adore the state. Luckily my husband is also excited about the idea and my daughter is still too young to be in school yet. I'm hoping to get a WI license (unfortunately, IL is not a compact state) and gain employment there in the southern part of the state. I'd love to know how the job prospects are looking in WI these days (I'll be done with school in May 2014). I know things are tough everywhere, but thought I'd see if WI seems to be turning around at all. Thanks for any information you might be able to give!

Specializes in ICU.

I'm in Milwaukee and while staffing is kept tight to reduce costs, I know of a couple new grads that were recently hired. I don't think times are quite as bad as they were.

Hopefully, by May 2014 your prospects will be great. I agree, it feels like things might be changing even if it's real slowwwww.

Specializes in Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology.

Up in Eau Claire, new grads have a fairly easy time getting jobs. Staffing at the local hospitals is good too. It seems the job market is a little tighter in the southern part of the state. Hopefully things will be on the up and up in 2014 ( & 2013)!

Specializes in Oncology, Med-Surg.

It tough in Milwaukee and burbs right now. They all prefer experience. I hear it is better in the northern part of the state.

Specializes in Hospice.

Its definitely still tight, but i would say improving! good luck~
