Community Health and Population-Focused Nursing C228

Hey AN family ?

Here I am again asking questions, please don't be annoyed by me.

Anyone have tips for the Community Health Class. Did you find starting in a certain order helped you? Did you find the self-guided cohort helpful?

Any tips would be gladly accepted and appreciated. Thanks!

I became somewhat spooked and took one month to finish C228...

The objective assessment is going to be a 3rd party ATI exam. I scored in the 99th percentile by using the Community Health Passbook as a study guide.

This book has outdated questions that look as if they were typed on an old typewriter, but the material was identical to what I found on the exam. To find rationales for the questions, I googled everything. I answered about 25 to 50 questions a day until I reached the end of the book.

I probably spent three days typing my paper. I never used any of the cohorts throughout the entire program because I like to control my own pace.

No, I don't think you need to do things in a particular order. The papers won't contribute significantly to your understanding of the exam material or anything like that.

There's apparently an ATI study guide available online somewhere. I didn't use it because I had a paper copy left over from my ADN days.

Don't let the papers scare you. Task 2 (the paper about a disease outbreak) took me about a day. I wrote Task 1 in one day out of necessity (end of term - I kept putting it off), and it passed by a good margin. Not even a whole one day - I worked a 12 hour shift. This paper actually requires way less than it initially appears - you really just need to give a basic overview of the results of the various tools, not an in-depth discussion of every little detail. If you're in the FB group, there's a sample paper in the file section that gives you a good idea of the (lack of) depth needed (Just be sure you include everything on the rubric - I remember there being some section or another that was distinctly lacking in the sample paper).

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the input. When you first look at the tasks, it just looks like endless questions that need to be answered. I was like O-M-G, what have I gotten myself into? lol... but to be quite honest, when I finally received the welcome email from my course mentor it changed everything. It was a very descriptive email with helpful video links, lists of websites to get my data from and so on and so forth. I think I should be able to tackle the tasks in the course in one week, assuming everything goes as planned. I have my OA for health assessment this upcoming week, so as soon as I see that course completion for health assessment I will dive right into the first task for Community Health. I know will be closed Dec 24th-Dec 27th, so I really want to submit my tasks at least 10 days before that so I can meet the requirements before they go on their holiday break. Do you remember roughly how long it took for those tasks to be evaluated? I remember the Biochemistry tasks were quick to be evaluated and usually within 24 hours I would get my results. The Organizational Systems is taking two days. What about Community Health? I am sick of stalking the task stream queue. You can tell me to submit my tasks and forget, but I know I can't and won't. I am such a sad case lol

TheCommuter, do you still have that book by chance?

If you are referring to the Passbook, yes I still have it in my possession.

Which FB group do you speak of? I could really use a layout example for task 1.

For task 1, how much did you fill in on the tools? I am struggling to answer all the questions on each of the pages.

Log into Facebook | Facebook is the Facebook group.

Look at the tools as... tools. They aren't so much something to be answered one-by-one as a set of questions that can help you figure out where to focus your attention. Fill in as much as you feel is necessary to give a good basic overview of your community. You'll probably find there are areas that don't seem particularly significant, and others that seem worth focusing more attention.

Anyone out there willing to forward the Task 1 from Facebook for 's "Community Health & Population" class ? I know it's lame, but I've been living without Facebook this long and would REALLY like to keep it that way---all except for getting a glimpse of an example for this project. When I asked in course chatter the Course Mentor blocked my request! WOW! top secret, I suppose. Not sure why they don't supply an example for us to get a proper idea of what they want on the paper. The directions are vague as well as confusing. Input on this matter would be much appreciated----that example paper would be a blessing ;o)

Thanks!

Perhaps it is because some, but not all, would construe this request as a roundabout way to encourage cheating.

Thank you for your insight, "TheCommuter". The cheating angle didn't actually occur to me. When I did my ADN program they always supplied an example paper for us to get a better idea of the format they wanted used. This project has extensive, albeit vague directions. Either way, it looks like I'll be filling in their blanks and crossing my fingers.
