Volunteering at Hospitals?

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Does anyone know of any hospitals in Vancouver, WA, that allow volunteers in like their NICU/Well-baby? Or peds? I'm looking to start volunteering while I'm doing my pre-reqs for nursing school and just didn't know where to start.

Thank you very much!

Most hospitals have a volunteer coordinator or dept. that you can contact and see what opportunities are available and how to go about doing that. I'll say my 2 cents is most volunteer positions will be non-patient contact oriented. There are some positions that might be just talking to a patient or assisting with needs of families or providing general information or just assembling packets of information - all of which in the end assist / support patients and alleviate work load of staff.

I'd give local hospitals a call - and ask the operator about a volunteer coordinator or dept - if their website doesn't list info... best of luck!

I called Legacy today (as they have a hospital closest to mine) and have the application on the way, so I suppose that'll work. =) Thank you very much!

Freesia,

Can you tell me who to contact for the Bellingham cuddler program? This is exactly the volunteer job I've been looking for!

Sure!

Marci Scott is the director of volunteer services....

You need to fill out the application, then call about a week after you send it to set up an interview.....
