Hi Abalone, thanks for posting your Fall quarter schedule (on Feb 24) so we know what to expect. I'm assuming NCLIN 306 is clinicals and you do that at a local hospital - is that right? I was wondering if you are always at the same hospital each week? Does it vary quarter to quarter? And do they assign you a hospital or can you give them your preferences?
    Thanks!

You're right, NCLIN 306 includes both nursing lab and clinical. The lab portion is done at school and then you have one day a week on a med-Surg floor. Each qtr you are assigned a clinical site and you stay at that hospital all qtr but then it will most likely change the following qtr. I was lucky enough to stay at Harborview for both Fall and Winter qtr but most people changed. The first year you will do 2 med-Surg rotations and 1 qtr at children's hospital. You won't get a preference on hospitals until your senior practicum.

Thanks, ArmyNurse68. Are the hospitals they assign you to in (or near) Seattle? I remember from an info session that some of the clinical sites are well outside Seattle and require advanced planning re: transportation.
I probably shouldn't worry about this now because I may not be accepted! But I'm a planner so I like to get it all organized

Mostly hospitals in the Seattle vicinity, with Evergreen being the furthest distance. I thing during the community health/psych rotation you might end up as far as Everett or Tacoma but its only that one qtr, I believe. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Did anyone get an email from UW today saying to set up a UW NetID. Well I don't know why we should do that if the school of nursing haven't accepted us yet. I am patiently waiting for a reply from the school of nursing. I can't sleep, eat or take a shower. Just checking my mail box everyday. Hope this is over soon. 3 or 4 more weeks to know.

I did get an email about setting up UW account too, but I don't think it means we've been accepted into the SON, just means accepted to UW, which you should of received a letter in the mail from by now (at least I did a few weeks but I applied to UW before the SON, like the application said to) man I wish that meant acceptance into SON, it would be nice to have good news today lol!

Hey army nurse, do you work at Madigan by any chance or in the army nursing commissioning program? I'm going for the Air Force nursing commissioning program & would love to ask you a few questions as far as how reporting to your Detachment, classes, etc work for you if you don't mind

I wish I could be more help but I ets'd a little over a year ago! I did work at Madigan when I was in the Army as a medic/lpn. I had worked with a lot of great Army nurses, and Air Force nurses who did the commissioning program and had no regrets. When I was still at Fort Lewis, I know the army nursing students worked with the ROTC cadets on North Fort during the Summer running clinics and stuff, but that was a few years ago. Best of luck though! I know there are a few veterans in our class, if that helps ease your mind a little

Jessica, did you apply as a transfer student? You got your letter of acceptance quickly. I know Freshman who haven't heard yet (but they aren't "scheduled" to hear until this week or next). From the university not the SoN
