  1. Also, be sure to stop by the SoN BBQ Sept 19th right after orientation it is a welcome for you guys and there will be a lot of nursing school people from various levels of the school as well as 2nd year BSN students who will know what you are about to experience. If you had summer orientation come by as well this is for you guys too!
  2. As a 2nd year I suggest you use anything they suggest for patho, it will be the most stressful class you take and the professors rely on your text for testing and quizzing.
  3. Jessica S, Fall qtr (last qtr) for some of us we would have lab mon or tues and then one day of clinical on tues or wed, thurs and fridays we had class all day I think until 3pm or so. Some of us were lucky and had mondays off and some did not. This qtr we are in class mon-wed and have clinical thurs and friday from 7-3ish. Some are doing peds rotation so their clinical days and times are a little different. What I would suggest to you when you get in is to take the summer classes they offer if you can afford it. Especially the health assessment class (Nclin 302) it will make your life SO MUCH EASIER your first qtr, trust me!!
  4. Jessica S, No, they didn't expect us to know anything as far as nursing skills go. They teach us that and some of us already had the skill but by no means did they expect us to know how to take BP, although it is a good idea you know because you eventually are tested on it rather quickly in the health assessment course.
  5. I think not finishing the math isn't an automatic DQ, some of my classmates said they didn't finish the math and are in the class so...
  6. It's handwritten so it is hard to single space or double space (not even sure how you would do that). Just write enough to get your point across and keep it within 2 page limit. Also I made corrections by crossing things out so it's no big deal.
  7. Good luck and congrats to all who have made it to the essay, it is no easy feat. Remember to follow the instructions and be clear in your essay. Don't spend a lot of time on the math questions they are fairly easy med calculations, so easy that you will be tempted to keep checking it because you'll think it can't possibly be that easy. That time will run out before you know it. In the current cohort I am in (with JLoya and Armynurse) we are all so very different, with different experiences and backgrounds you really don't know what they are looking for so you can't really compare yourself with what other people have done. There are those with no patient care experience and those whose grades weren't "the best" coming in. It is really a whole package thing, so now that you've come this far kick ass on that essay!
  8. The proctored essay questions are not very technical, they are aware that you are not yet nurses. They basically want to see how you think and reason. Don't get too hung up on the technical aspects, from doing it last year and what I can remember they want to get a sense of you and how you are able to articulate your reasoning and rationale and to get a picture of your approach to patient care. I chose an option/situation that I wasn't very familiar with and stated so in my essay. The math is pretty easy, don't get too caught up with it, they are just simple multiplying/division. Good luck, and again it's going to be a wild, crazy, stressful ride but well worth it!
  9. Hi future SoN people, I'm a classmate of Jloya and Armynurse in the current class and wanted to wish everyone good luck. I know exactly how all of you feel waiting to hear back. Be prepared to enter an excellent program, times will get tough but you'll get a lot of support and make excellent friends! Good luck!
  10. JLoya, I'll join the FB group.
  11. Kasko, I'm just taking 302, I'll say hi next Monday.
  12. Hey Kasko I will message you with my info to get into the group. Also, I think I met you during orientation! See you tomorrow!
  13. During summer orientation this week we were told (I guess prior to fall qtr starting) there will be a bbq hosted by one of the student nurses organizations for us new BSNs so that we all can meet. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of you!
  14. She got back to me rather quickly, next day.
  15. I got in contact with Anh at UW and she said a CNA certification will work! Happy to have saved myself 7hrs.
