Hi!;) Anyone starting Olympic College's TADN this winter? I graduated from Clover Park's LPN program last August and am scheduled to start the TADN (Transition to ADN) program at OC winter 2010. Anyone completed this program? Any input is appreciated! :loveya:

I'm doing my prereqs at OC right now. I'm just going straight for the ADN. Are you working using your LPN while you're in school?

No, I am working as a caregiver. I passed the state board in Oct, and my employer has been very flexible with school hours, so I think I will stay there....

I had planned to go straight ADN, but didn't get in fall of 08 because I didn't have my micro done at the time, so I went to Clover Park and will be done at the same time I would have if I had gotten in the ADN. Also, the competetion is much less for both the LPN and the bridge program. It is another option for those who don't get in to the 2 year program.....:coollook:

yeah it sure is competitive. I live in Port Orchard so Olympic College is my first choice TCC would be second and after that I'll be in a real pickle if I don't get in to one of those two. But where there's a will there's a way right?

Yeah, I am in PO too, (but OC has an LPN too, if anyone needed/wanted to go that route) and yeah, you have to want it really bad to get through nursing school. :yeah:

Hey Luptyloo I wanted to know if you got into a Bridge program and how competitive it was for you. Im starting an LPN program this fall and wanted to know what to look forward to this time next year?

Hi! Yeah I got in, and it is not really that competative. I think there were only a couple people who had met all the requirements and didn't get in, if that. Last year there was only one person. It is a good program, I have two months left-grad in August! WooHoo!! cannot wait! Hope it goes well for you, nursing school is tough but it goes fast and is such a rewarding accomplishment!!

Hi lupty loo!

I know this thread is kind of old, but I am applying to OC TADN for winter start next year. Can you tell me how many days/week school is? Also, do most people get accepted into the program that apply? I have all of my prereqs done and get 2 pts for my accuplacer :)

hey tartar I heard if you actually have your LPN license before apply you have a better change of getting in I graduate from Bates this July so im hoping to take my NCLEX before august 31 so i can be in that pile as well. I just wonder how many points is considered a good chance of getting in. Because my grades are ok but not the greatest. Any who i go take the accuplacer in a couple of weeks. How did you study for it? I believe its only the reading section we have to take if im not mistaken

I didn't study for the accuplacer since it was just the reading portion. I didn't know how I would even study for that but luckily I did well and got the full points. So, I went and talked to an advisor and she told me that they are restructuring the TADN program. Instead of a seperate TADN program they are changing it to a space available basis entering the 2nd year of the RN program which = less spots. Also, if their change gets approved, the program wont be admitting students until fall 2012. I'm still going to apply, but I really hope they don't change it this year!

really that sucks so are they not letting people start for the January 2012 start date.This sucks Im going to talk the nursing advisor on June 15 when i take my accuplacer. Im going to apply still as well but hopefully i can get some for sure answer for this coming up January.

I just attended the TADN info session at Olympic this morning and wanted to clarify that they ARE indeed admitting students for winter of 2012! It's true that the program has been restructured, and they said they expect to admit around 16 students (35 students applied for the TADN last year and 20 were admitted). Now, students take only a transition course winter course for LPN-RN that is held one day a week, and then they begin full-time nursing coursework in the spring semester. Students take summer quarter as a break and then return to full-time coursework for the next 3 quarters (fall, winter, spring). So, the program is now a 12+ month program. The nursing advisor said they restructured it to allow students who are working while attending school some much needed breathing room because they won't need to take as many credits each quarter now. When asked about the average cumulative GPA admitted, the advisor wouldn't give a specific number, but she did say that it was on the lower end of the GPA point system (included in their app packet). Overall, I like this program a lot and will be applying this week to enter the winter 2012 class! Wish me luck, I think my odds are pretty good. :)
