Anyone else finishing prereqs and getting ready to apply?

If so, what schools?

I'll be finishing micro this fall quarter and be applying to UW, Seattle U, and Shoreline. I'm also looking to apply at a few ABSN programs out-of-state. However, I'm a little hesitant to do the latter since I'm not in a rush to finish school because it seems like no new grads are having luck finding jobs.

I'm taking Physiology and Pharmacology this semester. Next semester I have to take a couple of pre-reqs I was told I didn't need to take because I have a B.A., but then found out that they're required for the program. Should be easy 4 points. Just have to get through Pharm. lol I'm applying for the accelerated program this coming June. My school does the point based entry "competition", and I'm looking at being at least 5 points higher than the cut off score last year, so here's hoping.

That's great to hear, I am redoing micro and I am gald that I am, it was a tough class that I rushed through, now I can grasp all the info and actually understand it vs. memorizing to get a good grade on a test.

I just have a couple more pre-reqs to do, and one of them is Nutrition. I would like to take this online winter quarter, if possible. Has anyone taken any of their pre-reqs online? All my others have been in person. Anyone have a particular community college to recommend for online courses?

Also, has anyone taken any of their pre-reqs pass/fail? I'm not sure if that is allowed. I would love to take Nutrition pass/fail as I have another course I need to take in the Winter that I would like to devote more time to.

Hi All! I will be done with my pre-req's at Green River CC this Spring. I am finishing up AP I, Chem 121 and English 101 (retake) and doing really well. Winter I am taking AP II, Psych 200 and Med Term, and then Spring Qtr Micro, Sociology and MAYBE Chem 131 (as most of the programs do not require it). I am going to apply to TCC, Highline and Pierce (Winter), considering some Seattle CC's (anyone know of good ones) and then if I am not able to get in right away, I think I might apply to Seattle U and PLU (it's just SOOOOO expensive and my hubby and I do NOT have that kind of mula). I am hoping to get into TCC because it's close to where I live and they have an excellent program!

Specializes in Pediatrics, Community Health.

In a couple of weeks I will be finished with my last pre-req (Nutrition). What a relief! I also applied to six direct entry-level MSN programs for Summer or Fall entry (depending on the program). I have already been accepted into one, but I am waiting to hear back from the other five for interviews. Feels good to know that all my hard work during the pre-reqs phase paid off :)

I'm so jealous of everyone who is almost done with prereqs. I just finished my first course (Psych 200- got an A!) and will be taking Stats and Biology next quarter. I'm still working fulltime so I can only take 1-2 classes per quarter. I wont be able to apply to nursing schools for another year and a half, but when I do it'll be UW, Whatcom Community College and maybe Shoreline.

Good luck everyone!

Aurora,

I retook English 110 online and I am going to be taking Psych 200 & Medical Terminology online during Winter Qtr. I am going to take Sociology online in the Spring and I might take Nutrition (most of the programs I am applying to, don't require Nutrition). I wouldn't recommend any of the science classes to take online...most of them aren't even offered online because of labs. I have taken all my online through Green River CC and have not had any issues. Make sure wherever you do decided to take online classes, that it is an approved school. Most community colleges offer online classes. Where are you taking your pre-req's at???

jessicadawn,

I took Bio 241 and Chem 121 together this Fall, along with an online English class (which did require a LOT of time) and I work 30 hours a week, and have managed to maintain a A in all courses. I would NOT consider myself a "science" person either (as I am very artistic and right brained, lol) but if you put the TIME into the classes to study and attend EVERY lecture, there is no reason why you can't do it either. Also, make friends with your classmates...form study groups and if you don't get something...ASK, b/c if you don't get it and fall behind, it almost IMPOSSIBLE to catch up (I learned this the FIRST time I took AP 5 years ago) or master the material. Good Luck! I hope to be right along side with you at TCC in the Fall 2010 endeavoring the nursing school journey with you. :)

Has anyone taken any of their pre-reqs online?

I took many prereqs online (Math, Engl, Psych). I will be taking Nutrition class on line ( I want to apply to Shoreline along with Whatcom and Skagit) during Spring quarter. Taking online classes was one of my best decisions I have ever made :) They are easier and you do not have to go to school every day which is perfect for me!

I love Skagit but you have to have some credits to have a chance to get into on line class.

I just finished PSYCH & 200 online at Whatcom (piece of cake), and am enrolled in Intro to Stats online at Skagit for Winter quarter- which I am a bit nervous about. I am going to try and get into the online Nutrition class at Highline for Spring. Online classes have been great for me since I am continuing to work fulltime.

kristina111 lol that's funny :) I just finished Psych 200 at WCC too :) Wondering if we were in the same section? :)

Thats funny! I think there might have been two sections for the course, but I'm not sure. What did you think of the class? I enjoyed it, but it was mostly review for me since I already have a Bachelors degree in Psychology. Are you taking other prereqs at Whatcom?
