Specializes in none but hope to have one soon.

Does anyone know if the ASN program is really competitive? I know that all schools are competitive but what are my chances of getting in my first attempt?

Thanks,

Kimberly

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Depends on your healthcare background, GPA, the usual things.

Most people i've known there applied one year and got in for the following fall.

Marie,

Thanks for the fast reply! The people you know that got in, are they highly qualified?

The reason I ask is, the deadline for Fall07 admission is Feb07 and I will have only completed Eng 111. My GPA will hopefully be 4.0 but with only one class. I plan on taking several other General Ed courses Spring07. I have no healthcare background so I'm not sure if I should even apply for Fall07 admission. Maybe I should apply for Fall08?

Thanks,

Kimberly

A couple were LPNs, one was a CNA.

Make a 'gamepllan' to see what classes you need to take for when, and that'll give you an idea of what semester to apply for. Talk to one of the academic counselors also, to see how the application process works as well.

A healthcare background isn't necessary for application, but it doesn't hurt either.

Thanks for the info! I will take your advise and talk to an advisor!

Hi everyone. I am a 1999 graduate of the ADN program at Piedmont Virginia Community College. It is competitive, but apply anyway. If you need help with questions call the Nursing Dept at the school and speak with Kathy Hudson.

I really enjoyed my time there. It's a lot of work and you really have to apply yourself toward your goal. Some days you just want to quit, but trudge onward. You will have a reading assignment prior to the first day of school. There is a LOT of reading....so don't get behind, if you do, you will have a difficult time catching up. You do your clinicals at MJH and UVA.

I was accepted at PVCC right away, of course that was in 1996! Good luck!

I got accepted last month and will be attending this coming school year. I am planning on taking the health assesment class over the summer to lighten the load up during the fall semester.
