pre-req's & gpa for VTC

Congratulations!! I, for one would not be too worried about having a B- in A&P.

You can apply to VTC without having your Pre-req's done. So you can really apply anytime, although having them done and being admitted to VTC would just give you less credit hours to take in the Nursing program. (19 credit hours vs 12 credit hours.

Most Nursing programs require a passing grade of C in A&P to pass their respective programs.

I think you will be alright.

The reason I was freaking out about it was because I met with the assistant director of admissions back in february and she said to get an A in a&p so I have been freaked out since, lol. But my gpa is a 3.3, which I think is pretty good, right? I have two little girls (3yrs and 15mo) so I am definitely trying to get as much done as I can before I get into vtc, lol. After this semester I'll only need A&P2, microbiology, and an elective...then it's all nursing courses right through to my ADN. I'm hoping to get in for next fall.

Are you at VTC now?

No I am trying to complete my pre-req's at CCV (Bennington). I am taking A&P1 now. I, if I pass A&P with a decent grade, I will apply to VTC in the Spring of 2011 for the Fall term.

Come spring I will only need A&P2, one math and one elective to go before I have my Allied Health certificate.

Hi Erica,

I was accepted into the LPN program @ VTC. I finished all my pre classes through CCV before I applied. My GPA was 3.7. When I was in A&P one of my class mates got a B+, I think VTC told her the same thing. This a school that requires high grades. There were students who held 3.6 and did not get into the RN program. This is the most intense thing I am doing. I highly suggest completing every class that is on the program and then applying because you will never have time to focus on the nursing classes/HW and the extras at the same time. If I am accepted into the RN program I will only have to succeed in the RN classes (not easy).I also have 2 kids and a very supportive family and sometimes I still feel like there isn't enough hours in the day. This program is excellent!! But you will work your butt off (not joke) I do not want to scare you, but the grades really count, and it sounds like your off to a really good start. I would definitely try to get in the A range for A&P II

Stick with it!!!

Hi Erica,

I also did prereqs at ccv, and I'm in the VTC PN program now (with Dionne!) and I'm wishing you the best. I agree with Dionne and am just writing to reinforce her opinion. I had an A+ in a&p 1 & 2. I worked hard for those grades, and I have to say that for me, taking the PN program at VTC is every bit as challenging as the a&p classes were. I do stay up late studying and working on projects quite often. It's not easy. Please note: Not everyone in our class got an A in a&p. Also, if you want to bring your A&P grade up - I don't know if you've done this, but please join or form study groups if you can, it really helps, and do at least some review every day (like flashcards) to reinforce the material. I decided to apply to Norwich University's BSN program and got in! Which ends up working out really well for me since I live just a short 5 minute walk from campus, lol. I'm just wondering too, are there waiting lists at VTC now? I heard that there were but then again it's just hear-say.
