I believe at my hospital it's around $21-22/hr.

yep, that's about right. makes me sick. one of my patients said to me the other day "nursing seems like such a great career. my daughter works as a nurse and makes such great money". I said "the money isn't THAT great, but the job...yes, it is a great job". I asked where his daughter worked and he said in california and she makes $50/hr. I stated that she must have a lot of experience. pt states "no, she just graduated from school 3 months ago and this is her first job". I about fell to the floor in tears lol

I'd be willing to bet that wage is in the bay area and the cost of housing there is thru the roof so don't fall too hard. Check out real estate online around San Fran and outlying areas; you'll see what's up. Gas is usually higher in CA than UT and the traffic will put you in an early grave.

Actually nurses in southern california make $50 an hour starting and the cost of living is not as bad as san fran. I am a cali native. :-) But traffic and the cost of gas is ridiculous.

Just curious where do nurses in SoCal make 50/h starting. I know the big institutions like UCLA and UCSD start at <40/h for a Clin2.
