I have my first travel assignment coming up at Children's in NOLA. I am super excited to be in New Orleans...so different from any other city! Has anybody traveled there? Tips? Apartments?? My company is having some difficulty finding me housing that is within a 30 minute drive to the hospital! Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I did! I'm still trying to find time to get a few more posts in! Maybe one more after this? Yesterday was orientation, so maybe now I'll get my schedule. Stay tuned for a PM :)

Hi ,

I am from New Orleans and was a travel nurse for 3 years and had a great time. I worked at children's after I first graduated and it was great place. We had lots of travelers, this was right after hurricane Katrina, and they all seemed to like the hospital. I am back home and am thinking about renting out a room in my house to travelers b/c I know how hard it can be to find temp housing.

Be VERY CAREFUL about where you find housing. NOLA is a checker board - meaning one block will be fairly safe, with very nice houses then 2 blocks over you are in a bad area with lots of crime. If you need advice on areas PM me.
